Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder vs Porsche 906

Man, I miss Miami Vice. Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder vs Porsche 906. I built that MV 365 model back in the day. Bonus throwback with a Fat Boys cameo.

I'm pretty sure the Maserati is real.

The best part of that very episode is the Mercury Blues montage.

The first video was comically bad! I never watched it when it first came out and after watching that lame video action, I would only watch it for the laughs.

Did you notice when they pulled away from the guy selling the doobie, he pulled the shifter back into drive.

When he spun, he gave it gas and couldn’t even smoke the tires.

The video was sped up.

My brother-in-law used to dress up like those guys off duty, and he was actually a cop. Good guy. RIP.

Is this the Worthington Brothers car?

It was campy and very popular at the time because the overall production values and art direction was considered avant garde for television and it was. It had a lot of style but not much substance. If you want to see something good, watch the Miami Vice film from 2005 by Michael Mann. They drive a real Ferrari in that one.

I really liked the movie as well. I'm a fiend for mojitos, a Colin Farrell line at a niteclub. Great
shootout at the end. Most Michael Mann movies hit the mark !

I watched the entire run of the show once; approximately every other episode was good, while the other was just garbage - dumb script, ridiculous plot, bad acting - probably why the other half was "good." Almost like one writer was better than the other....

The "Bushido" episodes were prime.

Tell number 1: no vent windows.
Number 2: shifter straight back for Drive.
Number 3: v8 rumble ( although the Foley folks could have/should have dubbed that).

McBurnie Coachcraft Spyder on a Corvette C3.

Loved that show. It was absolutely miles ahead of anything else in just about every way. Music content was legendary. The testarossa was real.

At one point it ran before ‘crime story’ which was also fantastic. Mann has a touch.

I never really watched the series other than an occasional episode but immediately recognized the style - it mimicked one of my all-time favorite movies - Thief with James Caan and Tuesday Weld (1981). Much later I learned that Michael Mann who directed Thief was one of Miami Vice's producers. Thief is far better, btw.

That's the story car. All fake logos.
I'm sure "Worthington" is meant to be reminiscent of "Whittington".

Nah, didn't expect them to be real, but fun, campy and a throwback to watch. You think that was an actual Porsche?!?!

Thief is one of my favorites too. Didn't remember that Michael Mann directed, but now that you mentioned it, it's easy to see the similar style that carried over to Miami Vice.

A bit of Thief trivia: All the burglary tools used in the film were real and supplied by actual thieves who served as technical advisors. Caan said that it was his favorite film role.

Wow. That's amazing because there were some really crazy tools involved!
