So, I'm kinda new around here
but it sure seems that the thread rating stars are more of a thing that voters can cast to the member, more so than the content of the thread. I'm not suggesting I deserve 3 or even 4 stars for my drivel, but it seems even some wildly popular contributors can get a single star for their efforts. What did they do to deserve that?
Cliff's knife thread gets one star? That's wrong and ruins all of our credibility... Who don't love Vash? |
I gave you 5 stars!
Yup, this has been discussed before and it seems that some people see who made the thread and then give it a one star out of some sort of juvenile spite to the author rather than the content of the thread. |
I don't think most of us rate threads.
I think most of us have a theory that there's one wanker running around giving threads one star. When folks notice a one star rating someone will often vote five stars to counteract the one star vote. |

New here, in OT I mean and did not know it had been discussed before. I strive for even one silver starfish.... |
Fair point. I’m in for five
|
This thread should get 100 stars for the most appropriate use of “wanker” I’ve seen in a longtime…
|
On the mobile version of PPOT, there’s no way to give stars, thus I’ve never rated anybody. With one star ratings, it sounds like a 12-year-old is doing it.
|
I'd give this thread 5 starz ... if I saw them or GAF :D
In desktop mode, I can't help but notice stuff ... you can see stuff if ya look too... One wanker ... ??? Go visit PARF ... Star wankerz ... What happened to Glenn btw ;) Lubey, Vash, PWD ... etc. Somebod(ies) alwayz been 1 -star struck ferever ... could even be coded ... who knows? ... Starz should've been gone long ago.... just juvenile stoopid, bs ... Or go mobile :) |
I've never rated a thread and pay zero attention to how a thread has been rated. Why do people care?

... and something to rant about ... So we do :D |
Not sure I've ever rated a thread. It's like those thumbs up/thumbs down things you see elsewhere. I just don't get it. It's typically not the content being rated but rather the person who started the thread or made the comment. I don't understand why the thread rating exists. If I start a thread that gets a five star rating, do I win something?
|
Every now and then someone questions the star ratings and I have to look to see what they are talking about. I don't notice them and by that, I guess it indicates they have no relevance for me.
Best Les |
There are certain members who's threads consistently receive one star. Ironically, they're the members I find most ameable and interesting.

I never paid any attention to the stars. I don't know what they are supposed to indicate.

Good to see Vash's knife thread got some proper love!

You can rate a thread without logging in.
Threads get "rated" by bot computers scraping the internet and combing over the website. Over and over. That's all. It's meaningless. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a poopy-head and deserves the 1-star. Why does no one understand this yet after all this time |
^^^ LOL ... you gotta log in to access PARF ;)... it still could be code.
There IS a real individual(s) behind it ... guaranteed... and tho' lessened, it was a PARF spillover years ago... ask Glenn ;). There IS more than one wanker on PPOT still! 'cause it ain't me :D |
Yes all bets are off in PARF the poopyhead and ridiculous forum I just mean the rest of the forums. :)
