Thank you! I posted this 2 weeks ago on one of the steak threads. Great minds think alike! :)

I have to say after going through a full physical with bloodwork 2+ weeks ago, having a 110/70 BP at 57, I should be eating a lot more steak.

It ain't so much the BP as the cholesterol numbers that'll get ya, Shaun.

i'm good there too Scott. I think I'm healthy because I work for a living. I am sure that if were at a desk every day I'd be 30lb heavier and ready to die.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that stuff is mostly genetic.
Dad would eat a pound of bacon and a dozen eggs a week, smoked, drank and did not exercise. I found this a bit frustrating, because when I was 15 and he was 50, our blood work and BP were about the same. At the time I was running 75-100 miles a week, cycling and lifting weights. Mom thought it was funny that I was upset with this fat, 50 year old smoker as healthy as me. "You should be happy, that stuff is all genetic. You are in way better shape than him, you can tell by your resting heart rate." My resting heart rate was 40, his was 70. Part of it is your habits, but a lot of it is genetic. |
