Johnny Mathis: Final Concert

I got an phone call Saturday May 17th. My friend had 4 tickets for Sunday to Johnny Mathis final concert. He invited us to join him and his wife.
It was a great event. For my wife this was extremely exciting. She came to the US from Indonesia when she was nineteen and had never been to a concert. For her very first concert she was able to go to the VIP lounge and hang with the celebrities and sit in the second row center. I am grateful to my friend for sharing this rare opportunity with us.
Johnny was great. He had quite a bit of energy. He is going to be 90 in September, and had decided due to health and memory issues it was time to end his career and just play golf and relax.

What a wonderful gift.

Johnny Mathis was one of my Mom's favorites. ALL of his songs remind me of her.

I also grew up with his albums sitting on the old Hi-Fi console as a child in the ‘60s. My parents loved him…who couldn’t?
