Inflatable paint booth questions
I'm getting an inflatable paint booth and wondered if anyone has used one, your thoughts and type you used would be helpful. Pro's, Con's, what was your experience with that type of set up?
Not getting a car sized booth, 8x10' or 9x13', somewhere in that size will accommodate my projects. Finn |
I bought one a couple of years ago. Works great! Cant remember the brand..... sorry
But my one regret is not buying a bigger one. I thought the same as you, but you need space to get around your items with the paint gun and hose. My advice go one step bigger than what you think you need. |
One of my VW friends (and Masonic brothers) who is a painter bought one and has been very happy with it.

I have a large one that will fit a car ok but not perfect. You’ll need to come up with a ventilation system on your own.

Wow, I’m just now hearing about these things! And I see you can even buy one off of Amazon!

How do you clean them between paint jobs? I expect that any overspray becomes dust in future uses if it’s taken down and reinforced between jobs.

Thanks for the comments, I wondered about the cleaning also, I thought that you would just use it until its time for a new one, hopefully after setting it up numerous times. I never thought of dust from previous use but wetting the floor will help with that.
It's tough to get info on the units, the description's are pretty vague when it comes to the ventilation. I've seen some that have 2 fans, it was a car sized booth but it had 2 fans, 1 for inflation and the other for ventilation. I looked on Amazon too, I was surprised with the price but the description of 1 size might mention reinforced double stitch zippers but the next size up from that makes no mention of that in it's description. Do you need to run the single fan models full time? Will the booth collapse without the fan? Slow or fast collapse? I guess I'll find out. My son will use it a lot, I just want to paint one of my guitar's. |
Mine has 1 fan with a top vent that does create a semi pressurized room. It does have an additional vent area that I could add another fan for additional pressurization. I didnt really need it.
As for cleaning, I bought a cheap tarp and placed it on the floor for over spray. I have used it several times and just threw this tarp away after the last use. I will buy a new one for maybe $8 when I use it again. No the room will not stay inflated without the fan running. As for the collapse, it happens pretty fast! |
These show up fairly frequently on Marketplace or Craigslist. I missed on one last year that had two fans, filters, everything that comes with and more.
