Happy Father's day

My granddaughter surprised me this morning with this.

She insisted it go on my guitar case.

If my two children don't open a Grandfather Store soon, the Will will be changed most Rikki-Tik

Until then, Happy Father's Day:

I was out picking some Artichokes today and I thought of how my Dad would tell me the heart was terrible, don't eat it , but give them to me to get rid of.
Life lessons with flair, thx Dad

What's your Dad story?

I don't wanna be a buzz kill but I gotta get this off me. I lost my dad in late March. I have sort of an empty feeling today.

First of all, my condolences. No way around it, the empty is real.

But, I have good news: Your Father lives in you...he'll be back soon.

Trust me on this.

My dad passed away in 1995 , I still have some days of empty feelings . And that's OK.

Exactly this!!! I lost my Dad 3 years ago to covid and was extremely bitter for a long time. I've moved on and you will also. So sorry for your loss. It will be okay, YOU, will be okay.

Happy Father's Day to the best bunch of guys and gals on this earth. I truly appreciate you all.

My dad had an impact on many of my friends. Some good, some bad. Impacts, not my friends. Anyways, I sent a recent pic of myself to an elementary school friend whom I hadn’t seen in more than 50 years, nor me him.

Anyways, he texted back that I was the spittin’ image of my dad. I immediately thought, ‘how come he remembers what my dad looked like?’

Oh yeah, everybody remembers my dad.

Sorry to hear, Nick.

The first Father's Day and the first of his birthday's will be a little tough.

Hang in there, my brother.....

All well for those who still have their Fathers and kids, not all of us are so fortunate.
But, to those who have one or both, enjoy your day for those of us who have neither.

Thanks.
It was just a tough day. I was washing my dad's 3 wheel recumbent bike and getting it ready to give to a 78 year old guy I saw riding a two wheel bike. Long story but I saw him sitting along side the road with his bike on the ground. I asked if he had fallen but he was just tired from having to stop and put his chain back on. I put his bike in my truck and gave him a ride home. It hit me that this was the perfect guy to give my dad's bike to. It was just tough looking at the bike as I was cleaning, oiling the chain and cables, and making adjustments, knowing dad wasn't going to be the one enjoying it.

Nick, I understand, having been there. For years the grief would hit me at unexpected times. After a while I realized my thoughts were increasingly of the moments that helped shape me to the person I am today and I am so thankful.
Byron, my friend I suspect you hold your love for your parents deep in your heart and hardly a day goes by without a thought of them. Most of us, I hope, were blessed with good role models who made us supporters of our communities. It is evident from your posts that your parents influence will be felt after your brief time on this earth. Thank you.
My biological line stops with my son. He made a decision years ago he wanted no offspring. In a way it hurt, but it was his decision. Ironically he is now a major parental role model to the son of his partner. My wife and I are amazed that he has become a "dad" after all these years.
The granddaughter we are raising is the daughter of our adopted daughter and her deadbeat ex boyfriend. Our daughter had fetal alcohol syndrome and finds it difficult to plan or to imagine consequences of her decisions. Neither of them could care for their offspring so the little one has been with us since she was 9 months old. I did not expect to be a full time parent in my 70s.
So I say again to all who are positive mentors to young people or their communities, "Happy Father's day " and thank you.
