No talk about the US Open?
Not many golf fans here I guess? it was an incredible weekend if you watched the Open.
Incredibly difficult course in horrendous weather for Sunday had the worlds best golfers frustrated to the max and a guy who went pro in 2012 and has only had one win so far and was up at 3 am the night before the last round with a puking kid ended up with the W. And does it in the rain with the longest putt made in the entire tournament. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1750076220.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1750076237.jpg |
Good for him!
He was very humble in the post round interviews. Doing dad stuff at 3am before winning the US open on fathers day. Priceless. |
I heard that the putt was 60 feet!
|
Yep just over iirc. Good news for him was he had Hovland right next to him attempt essentially the same putt so he got a great read. Only had to two putt to win but in those conditions it seemed like nothing was a gimme.
|
His final putt was ridiculous.
Congrats to him, especially with the dad story. |
I think it was here in the Burgh ?? I dont really dont follow sports, or golf, but saw signs when picking up my kid from the train station Friday night .
Last weekends weather sukked rotten eggs. |
Yep, Oakmont. On the river just NE of Pittsburgh.
|
I didn't watch, but a headline on my news feed had a story about a golfer missing the cut and having a temper tantrum in the locker room.
|
I DVR the Majors, even the occasional Bob's Bigboy Open every once in a while.
I did get in in time to add a 3 hour extension to the DVR:cool: I loved it. The final putt was epic. |
Final putt was 65 ' per the announcers, just phenomenal way to win the tournament . When the cutoff is + 6 you know it's a tough course. That course made Scheffler and many others look less than stellar .
|
I watched part of it on Sunday afternoon, crazy conditions on an already tough course. But then college baseball came back on.:)
|
Glad he won, went through a lot of self doubt like many do and almost quit. Nothing is a bigger mind screw than having the talent but not the head to make it at that level. I’m sure the 4.2 million dollars for first will put him at ease for a bit especially with a young family. Tours a grind for the mortals.

Tough conditions, even for a US Open, Spaun was the only player to finish under par. I was rooting for old guy Adam Scott but after putting himself in position, he went 9 over in the final round
