I suspect they're rather new. Otherwise they wouldn't be fighting the puddle.

I'd go over and ask for a beer. You know... "can I drink one of your beers while I watch you piss away time?" sorta thing.

Not only is it legal, it is recommended.

I think someone is misunderstanding the term 'animal husbandry'.

However, fastfred, that is a hilarious quip, and I hope I can remember it next time I need it.

(edit- I read 'Texasville' by Larry McMurtry - I think you're supposed to use a cow...)

IDK about legal... but it makes it a lot less dangerous.. Not that I have any experience with that sort of thing.

One thing I have observed in my life on this big blue spinning ball, is that people who are often are not " doers " seem to be very critical of the actual people doing the doing . They will pick apart the handy work of someone who attempts to do something on their own, but they themselves would never dream of an attempt at the task at hand .
Every time my neighbor makes a comment about how he would do it , Im just dying inside, to hand the job off to him, and watch him struggle . " Sure Paul, show me, here ya go !" get er done !!!
I mean, this is the guy who comes over for help changing a lawn tractor belt, then critiqued my work, when I was installing a diesel engine in my tow truck last summer .
He made the" psst" sound of disapproval when I was pulling it out ,without removing the entire front clip . So, then , instead of working on my project , and getting things done, I end up arguing, or explaining myself with someone who could not pull this work off in his wildest dreams .
I was actually going to post about this a few weeks ago, when I called him " Mr Obvious " .
I was in go mode, and he kept nagging at me, and getting me off the machine to tell me how to do it a different way .
My old landlord had a saying for this, that I always thought was funny .
When someone would start bugging him while he was working on something, he would say
"Im f^%$king this horse, you just stand there, and look out for the farmer "
I have no idea if he made that up , or if its an old farmer saying, but we all peed ourselves laughing when he used it on an annoying client .
Carry on .

And you don't just ignore him? Just completely not respond.

That's hilarious! I'm going to have to remember that.

I remember a news article (I think it was Washington or Oregon). Some guy was caught having his way with a roadkill deer and got arrested. When he finally got before the judge, the judge checked the laws and let the guy go. Turns out that it's illegal to have sex with dead people, and it's illegal to have sex with live animals, but no law had been created to stop people from having sex with dead animals.

Fastfred, feel free to steal my line I use on my employees when they come up with a "better" way.

"Hey, great idea! I'll do it your way next time. This time I think I'm going to do it the right way though."

They know I'm joking and have to laugh

I’m also having neighbor issues. When I bought my house, I had a great neighbor, the worst thing about Ken was that he was so anal about his yard, it made everyone else’s yard look, you know the one type. Of course that is not really a bad thing. After he retired from the postal service, he bought some property South of here. And as time went on, he and his wife were spending more and more time down there. What, his wife’s son ended up buying the house from Ken. Even though he plays for the other team. Ken warned me that his stepson had spent time in California and was a bit..
Well, is the polar opposite of Ken, this is what he did to the last are.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1750225618.jpg

Again I can live with it, he claims that it is a butterfly Sanctuary.
And he clearly likes the same thing most biological females males like.
Then he got on the activist bandwagon, holding “Activist” planning meetings on Friday nights, again, I could care less. But then I noticed a Prius parked just on the other side of the sewer grade in the picture. Well, this did affect me, since the POS was parked right where the trash cans go and now they don’t have the guys hanging off the back of the truck. Well, because the car was blocking thier view of the trash cans. So I got passed a few times, and I had to put cans in the street. I see him in the yard so I asked about the car, he said it belonged to a friend of his, here on a green card, but fled the country because he thought he would be deported. Then he tells me that the left the car their and told the bank they could pick it up. Which in my mind, it was a BS move, showing just how incredibly inconsiderate and selfish they are. Why not just return it to the bank, you defaulted on your loan and don’t have enough consideration to drop it off to the bank, and leaves it on our narrow street.
Ok, now it’s starting to affect my quality of life. The neighbor basically tells everyone to look at him, with his multi colored, in shapes, to the stickers on the back of his car and of course his flag

Well, had a limb puncture the roof of my shop, so obviously, with hurricane season approaching, I want to get it fixed. One of the roofers who came out to give me a estimate, and my shop is pretty tall, this roofer guy weighs around in probably over 400lbs, so he doesn’t get on roofs, he uses a drone for that. Launched in front of my house over the house, to. Over my shop to see the damage, he does this all day, Monday through Friday. Flies the drone back in front of his van, which has a very bright wrap with the name of the business, and saying “Roof Repair”.
So he lands the drone, in front of his van and as he was picking up the drone, he sees the multi color guy next door snapping photos. So the roofer asked if everything was okay, and multi colored hair boy says “as long as your drone doesn’t fly over my house it will be “ in a very snide attitude and rude. He failed to think. Gee, something he using that for looking at the damage to the roof??? Funny how everything he does is to call attention to himself , then he thinks someone is spying on him, Mr look at me, I’m gay.
There was absolutely no reason for him to be rude to the roofer, and nobody would to see what goes on on his property, just lithe image of that is scary.
Then there are his dog and cat, everyone knows how I feel about animals, but his dog gets out quite often, and comes and chases my feral colony away and eats the food I put out for the cats. And then there’s his cat, beautiful cat, but instead of keeping the cat inside, he’s got a special collar that unlocks a pet door, so his cat pushes the smaller feral cats away and eats their food..

Redirecting surface water usually needs more than gutters—maybe a drain system or regrading the yard would help

stevej37 06-18-2025 02:29 AM

^^^ Best advice of all. :D

Chocaholic 06-18-2025 04:47 AM

It's possible he's having water get into his house or crawl space...hence the gutter effort. At least he's working on it. Kudos for that. Apparently the previous didn't. Probably not a bad guy. After buying a house, money flows like water (no pun intended), so he may not be in a position to afford a proper solution.
