Got rear ended at a stop light. Now I think my neck hurts.
I don’t know if it’s a result of the crash or just my imagination. The guy in front of me didn’t move when the light turned green but the lady behind thought he did and ran into me. Just some scratches on my bumper so it’s obviously a low speed crash. Can those cause neck pain?

I assume you didn't realize it was coming and your head snapped back into the headrest and probably bounced off of it. If so, I would think that would be enough to do the trick. The human body is amazing in its ability to be both very robust and delicate at the same time.
But I'm not a doctor, and I haven't had whiplash.

Get it checked out ASAP!
My brother was in an accident years and his neck was hurting the next day. Oncoming car hit him head on while stopped at a red light, other driver had a medical episode and lost control. Went to the Dr and they found out he had a cracked neck vertebrae. They rushed him the hospital for surgery, he was moments away from being paralyzed. Hope it is just a minor issue for you.

I got rear ended and didn't have a choice. The cop made me go to the hospital even though, I told him I was OK. Then the next day the insurance comapany called and took care of all expenses plus a nice settlement.

I had this happen twice inside of 18 months. GO TO A DOCTOR NOW.
I had to fight with my insurance carrier and eventually hire a lawyer. On a policy I sold to myself! The system is broken. I tried to be a good guy. It was a 5h1t show. Go to the doc so you have records and documentation. Message me if you want to chat further. I have strong feelings on this, as you may detect. |

How bad is your car/truck?
If it were me, I'd call one of the ambulance chaser personal injury attorney to see what they say. They got doctors that you will not need your insurance card for... https://lawbrothers.com/ |

The black plastic shroud below the painted bumper is scratched and that’s about it. I called my insurance company to report it just in case my neck gets worse. I’ll try to sleep it off but if it’s worse in the AM, I’m going to Urgent Care.

My neck hurts just reading this… but that may go away depending on if the other party had insurance.

You legally only have so much time after an accident to be evaluated by a doctor.
Exact time varies by state. Usually 48hrs or something like that. After that time, your insurance company can deny future claims- as you will be found partially at fault for delaying care. You may or may not need xrays- but I would recommend you be evaluated by a doctor, er, walkin clinic, etc. Just need the paperwork trail. Good luck gary |

Exact same thing happened to my wife while driving my Carrera, the "bumper" car. She didn't immediately go to the doctor but eventually began to suffer the effects that lasted nearly 15 years and one surgery later, to this very day.
It was soon enough after the accident that we tried using a lawyer to get some injury settlement money from the other driver's Allstate ins. The lawyer got stonewalled and we got nothing. I am fairly certain that removing the impact bumpers and replacing with even just fiberglass exacerbated the injury potential. I did get enough money to repair the car, so obviously the other party was at fault. This is important in your case. A note on the car, the estimate for repairs was done with the damaged rear bumper on the car that didn't suffer all that much. The estimator had no clue as to what he was looking at and didn't question it. However, the rear quarter was slightly buckled to tell you of the impact. Before taking the car to the bodyshop, I put the stock bumpers back on and had the repairs done. Turned out very well, but that was the straw so I sold it to a German buyer and have been out of the game ever since except for a Boxster that I sold on BaT last year after 22 years of ownership (wife's car). You say "low speed crash." I agree with above that any collision has potential especially if caught suddenly unaware. Keep your wits intact and do what you need to do to protect your future claim should it be necessary. I have a very bad taste about all of this and have become absolutely sinister. I hate cars, traffic and people. I hate ins cos as much as any human can. Lawyers are 2nd. |

Even a very minor rear end collision can cause soft tissue injuries. If the soreness continues or you get a headache, you definitely need to go see a doctor for x-rays and possibly an MRI. And, hopefully you got a police report.

Most of the big insurance companies hire local law firms to help with accident claims and other insurance claims.
The law firm my son works for has a branch that represents two large insurance companies in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach area...they are busy, very busy. Jack earned his courtroom chops representing the firms his first few years there...he now does criminal defense stuff. The "settlement" factors are very straightforward in most cases...there is a vast body of knowledge and precedent for different types of accidents and injuries, especially automobile related, the insurance companies deal with....right down to the sex, age and body type of those injured. The Actuaries at the insurance companies track everything. There is also a ton of sources for "seeing" the accident in real time in addition to police reports, which Jack says the insurance companies hate: Cameras, phones, Waze, etc. His advice? Doctor first and always. Do not (and I am not assuming you would) embellish the injury, pain and suffering....it is Charlie Brown's Teacher voice to everyone in court. His last bit of advice: Get an offer based on your Doctor's visit. If you decide to seek additional recompense, hire a firm that can explain in real terms the probability of success, the real financial bottom line and the time sink you will face. I wish you well.
