The Final Reckoning.....a great movie!
Saw it at the 9am screening today. Another great one by Tom Cruise.
Starts out a little slow...but plenty of action soon after. Couldn't believe almost three hours went by that fast. The Dude knows how to make a movie...amazing! .

I've been looking forward to this one. I feel like all of the MI films since and including #4 (Ghost Protocol) have been excellent. It's a shame that they got rid of Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Fergusson). It's screwy that they named the previous one Dead Reckoning Part 1 and then called this one "Final Reckoning", but I'm sure that the movie is going to be excellent.

Saw it this afternoon and thought it was great. It's like a double dose of MI- tons of action, tons of stunts and fighting, extremely high stakes, and very high intensity the whole way through. Too much, really, but not really a problem.
All the characters were great, and I have to hand it to Cruise and McQuarrie- they let several women shine in this with substantial roles.

Wonder what Tom Cruise might do next now that this series is wrapped up. 1996-2025. That is a long run, especially with the same lead actor. How many James Bond's have there been?

Cruise may be a little off beat with the whole Scientology thing but his Hollywood staying power is pretty impressive. Not many leading actors can claim big box office numbers for over 40 years(!).

At about the 29 minute mark of the above Mcafee video he talks about that. He doesn't mention details but it sounds like he isn't slowing up at all...thankfully.

Yeah, what I keep seeing in movies that he's making seems like he's going at it more and more rather than less. I remember seeing him talking about one of the previous movies (maybe the last one) where the stunt coordinator/safety guy said "no, you can't do that," so Cruise fired him and got a new guy. LOL. And he's really gotten away from CGI and seems to be doing some insane stunts. I don't see someone like him, seems to be extreme type-A slowing down much.

I just saw this with my eldest... Great movie with a diverse cast but not woke IMO.
Good old fashioned story telling. Highly recommended. ![]() My favorite character, Pom Klementieff ![]()

Movie was decent. The Sevastopol sub scene was painful to watch. The biplanes were great. Love Pom, here or Guardians, should look for more of her.

![]() Looking forward to seeing this one...hopefully can get to it while still on the big screen. Imagine it won't be the same on a 48" TV.

Your beef is with Peter. Why he thought it was important to say the movie wasn't woke, as part of a review here in OT, is beyond me.

I can tolerate the occasional brush up to the rubicon in OT far more than the overt political statements in signature lines. Not referencing yours of course unless you intend it to be a subtle political jab.

No, not a jab at all. It’s a quote from my grandmother, a young Jewish woman, about migrating to the US from Germany in the late 1930’s.

I remember you mentioning that. It’s a great testament of courage really. Leaving everything behind for a new start.

Oops... What happened?
What I meant by "not woke" is they didn't jam politics down your throat. They kind of just went with the flow. Know what I mean?

Yeah. You can feature diversity without jamming wokeness down your throat. Some folks just figure diversity = wokeness.

I liked it, but now I am a little disappointed. I thought this was going to be the last, and now I've hgeard they plan on making more. How the heck can Cruise keep up with these stunts?

That makes no sense in the context of the movie or any MI movie. Woke doesn't mean jamming politics. It originally meant understanding not everyone has the same chances in life. The Left took it way too far. The Right demonized and monetized it in yet another culture war front claiming certain communities don't achieve on merit, they are given their status, whatever that may be. That's the common understanding of woke which of course you know.
