Meet Moose

Well, as I was pulling into, to work out my back in the pool at the lodge, I see this tiny little one, right next to a major road. Of course I immediately stop, and get out, no other cats around, he runs away, hiding behind a tree. I made sure to be between him and the road, he hissed as I grabbed him. But, as I held him, he didn’t fight or even try to get away. I put him in my soft cooler . I had to run in to pay one of our guys, explaining that I couldn’t stay, and immediately headed home.
One person said “you don’t need another cat”, which I said was true, but clearly this one needs me.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1751151785.jpg

Moose was clearly waiting for you. Moose knew that you needed him and did what had to be done. (he's a cat, he doesn't need anybody :) )

Moose looks like a good one!

Good for you Byron, looks like you found your old camera!

Not sure if I fully agree, as I am taking my sister’s cat Simon to the cancer doctor every week (although he does not have a problem with Moose), and elderly Mother has medical issues, and loves Simon dearly, and as Simon is going through cancer, it’s getting very close to when cancer took my sister, the feral colony that I am taking care of. But those who truly know me, know that there is no way in hell that would let a tiny kitten out near a major road.

Moose is a good lookin' fella. I'm sure he'll grow into his name which is a bit loose and baggy right now.

The cat distribution system at work.

I've had two black cats - great personalities. It's like having a miniature house panther.

My vet once told me that black cats are very prone to acquiring FELV when out and about - be sure to get him checked out.

Moose is a happy camper!

Por_sha911 06-28-2025 06:21 PM

If only looking at the pics above, it would it be easy to call one "Moose" and the kitten "Moose Junior"?

You have a good heart.

Well done Byron. All the best!

I called my vet, as I was headed home, but they were closed for the weekend.
I chose the name because I was turning into the Moose lodge and saw him. He’s clearly decided that I belong to him as he wants to be on me, head butting me and such. But I have to make sure that Simon and Stella don’t feel left out, and remind them that he is now their tiny kitty and they are still loved, and give them the attention that they are use to.
Moose made sure that both ears and both sides of my face were clean, and my hand. Since he is to tiny for the automatic litter box (and it would probably scare him) so I went to the pet store to get a small one for him to learn in, but all were way too big, so I ended up with a hamster one (I didn’t know that they had such a thing). Crazy.

Smart cats know a sucker when they see one. I know this from experience, as at one point we had eight of them in our home. Have the girls adopted this little one yet? They'll probably box his ears a couple of times in order to teach him some manners, but it will all work out.
Good on you, Byron.

Another win for the CDS (cat distribution system)! Well done Byron.

Gotta be a special place upstairs reserved for Byron...

He has clearly decided that I belong to him

Congrats on the new kiddle, Byron - and thanks for giving him a home!

juanbenae 06-29-2025 06:19 PM

Should have got an orange cat..... Could have named it tangy, as in tangerine. Ape, like apricot? peaches? Papi, like papayas??

You could still name him ICE.... That'd be pretty dope...

Bill Douglas 06-29-2025 07:32 PM

Good on you Byron. It didn't take Moose long to decide you are the one.
