Absolutely Insane Drag Race.
This is just craziness on another level.

I know it's not the kind of thing that a lot of the folks here appreciate, but wow!
Modern muscle is crazy. Seeing that performance is shocking. I can't imagine having any of those as a daily driver (but I'm willing to give it a shot if someone wants to hook me up lol) Last edited by masraum; 07-09-2025 at 10:46 AM.. |

And then the uninformed and uneducated asks....
Why my insurance premiums are going up? Too much power in the wrong hands. I'm a Karen I guess

Yes and no. I'm going out on a limb and saying that most of the folks that can afford the cars in this video (probably mostly older folks) are not getting into trouble due to exhibition of speed. Far more likely that the bulk of the issues are the folks (probably much younger) that are running around in much cheaper stuff (not to say that folks don't wreck expensive, fast cars, it's just much less likely than cheap fast cars).

139mph trap speed in a giant SUV seems problematic to me honestly.

My guess is that most folks that have one of these will almost never use that capability. My guess is that most folks will try it once, and it'll scare the crap out of them and they'll never do it again.

The biggest problem with modern startlingly fast vehicles (whether they are SUVs, mustangs, AWD sporty cars, or Porsches) is that all of the nannies in the world aren't going to save you from physics. If you get the thing up to 120mph and come up on a corner that under perfect circumstances with a pro driver would only support 90mph, no nanny is going to get you around the corner.
One argument is that the same issue affects more pedestrian vehicles. But, of course, it's harder and less likely to get into the same situation in a far, far less capable vehicle.

Sure but the "i panicked and hit the gas" level of destruction goes up by an order of magnitude, literally.

Quite. And as a road cyclist, the idea of a 19 year old influencer staring at her phone while the Rivian is in party mode makes me nervous.

Driver training hasn't kept up with innovation. I won't even get into the responsibility aspect.

I liked the top comment:
We live in a world where enthusiasts drive around in 200hp econoboxes and moms drive to school and back in 700hp monsters. |
