frozen veggies. peas especially. and food prep
what a time saver!!!
I am one of those. I food prep. I will make big batch of something, package it up, all ready to nuke meals and take them to work. it is saving me money. and I think I eat better. frozen veggies are a god send to me. I think the quality is there, as long as I buy the right ones. peas, carrots....spinach. okay.. mostly peas..and carrots. hahah...corn is not a, well it is a grain I think. canned veggies are not my jam. they make no sense to me. no chopping, no blanching, no washing, peeling, shucking... I wasn't blessed enough to be a parent, but if I was, I would lean heavily into the frozen veggie department. hahah.. I do know a frozen lima bean is no bueno for me...it is dusty!! mom made us unhappy with those quite often. ![]()

I agree that frozen veggies are probably healthier than canned. I think I still prefer canned green beans because that's what I grew up with, but I almost never eat them these days anyway. It's also easier to use some of a bag of frozen veggies vs needing to use a whole can.
My wife does a lot of food prep. She'll spend a weekend making 3-4 things and portioning it into a bunch of containers and freeze most of it.

I grew up hating peas. Mom always served canned Le Sueur peas

I'm leaning towards frozen veggies. I used to buy fresh but by the time it's made it from the farm to the supermarket it makes snap frozen veggies look like a good idea.
I love peas. I buy frozen baby peas. Give them a quick blast in the microwave and combine that with air fryer chicken pieces it makes a great bachelor meal. |

I'd never heard of Le Sueur peas until I moved in with my wife. That's pretty much all she ever ate. She eventually switched to frozen. I'm not sure if it's because she thinks they are healthier or more convenient or some combination of both. I'd still eat some canned peas or canned green beans if they were on the plate in front of me.

I only eat fresh veggies. Nothing from a can, ever. Frozen...no thanks. The world we live in has spoiled me when it comes to being able to get fresh veggies whenever I want.

My wife and I prefer the taste of canned peas vs frozen . All other vegetables we prefer frozen . Ultimately we like fresh the best .

The only frozen I’ll use on the regular are peas and sometimes corn.
Mostly in about 3 recipes - the best recipe chicken pot pie being one of them. I only open cans of beans and tomatoes. Beans are too much effort to soak and cook for most weeknight dishes. Everything else is fresh. |
