In memory of one friend and a final goodbye to another

We all have special people in our lives, today is a day to memorialize one and say good bye to another, both fellow Pelicans Chris Bennet and Johan Carnell.

Chris passed away August 2, 2022 and Johan's son just posted on one of his current build threads, Sweet Transplant, that that he left us last Monday.

Both men were amazing people in so many ways across the spectrum of what it means to be human. It was an honor to know them both. Chris was a best friend living in Nashua. He was pathologically happy who always saw the best in people and you were a better person, you wanted and tried to be a better person, just by knowing him. He had more friends, real friends, than you could count. So many Sunday nights every month over the years were treasures, a group of us going to dinner and a movie. I miss those. Johan lived in Ontario and it was always a joy to see him and his wife at Hershey, in better days gone by and talk via email and on the forums over the last 11+ years. One of many long distance friends I wish I lived closer to.

A few pics of Chris, old pics of Johan at Hershey lost in a computer upgrade sad to say, a random one in his honor.

Live for today and don't forget what's important in life.

Well Said...Sad to say, but many of my "car guy" and other buddies have left before me. I often wonder the why of it...Just got off the phone with another of the survivors..we close since sharing room expenses @ the '71 Parade. Both of us without P cars now...he's a little older than me, recently gave (yes, gave) his '58 Speedster to a nephew.

Father time is a cruel bastid...

You are both lucky to have close friends, though time takes its tole. I've lost contact with almost all of mine because of all of us being scattered pretty far and the old group shrinking and passing. Yes, hang on to those you hold dear.

It is that phase of life, isn’t it? Goodbye Chris and Johan. May they be presented with 959s in Heaven.
