I was highly pissed off to find a stainless steel square head (Robertson) screw in my tire only to realise it was one of mine haha.

Does blowing out a flip-flop on a pop top count? I have no stories ... 1 flat on a boat trailer... the only flat I've ever changed on the side of the road too ;).

A thorn. I'm guessing I picked it up on the side of my driveway. It went into the sidewall. The tires,(Michelin), although specified for my '85 Jetta, were too narrow and the sidewalls were exposed. I made it three hours before realizing there was something wrong with the handling. As far as I recall that was the last time I changed a wheel on the side of the road. The tires got transferred to the Golf.

Razor blade. Just pulled one out of a rear tire on the targa this past weekend. The slash won't allow me to plug it, so new pair of rears it is.

I was driving eastbound on a freeway where I live in fairly heavy traffic. While a local bigger delivery truck was next to me in the fast lane and partially blocking my view, I somewhat saw an accident occurring on the westbound side fast lanes of the freeway where some vehicles plowed into the back of some stopped ones. Still watching, as debris was exploding everywhere, I saw a half rear axle with wheel/tire attached to it flying up into the air perhaps over a 100' high. Watching it, I could tell it was going to come down on my side of the freeway and was just praying it would not land on my truck. As luck would have it, it landed in the lane just to my right and took a couple of very high bounces before bouncing over the guardrail to the right of the eastbound lanes. Thankfully, it did not hit any other vehicles and I thought I had just won the lotto by it missing me by no more than a few feet. Unfortunately, I started to feel my passenger rear tire go flat and merged three lanes to the right and took the first exit that was just ahead. I pulled off of the surface street at the end of the exit, changed the tire, and made my way to a well known tire shop where I purchased the tires. Of course, the tire repair employee said the tire was ruined and said I would need another which they happened to have. When he walked out to me, he showed me a 6" long piece of chromed slightly arced metal which obviously was part of the broken off lip of the wheel that flew over the center divide, landed next to me, and pierced the tire ending up inside the tire and wheel

So short story made long, I was so lucky the axle didn't puncture my roof and skewer me or the wheel/tire didn't crash through my windshield. I still have that broken piece of that wheel...lol

Pine Straw. Long story involving teenagers and alcohol, an old BMW 2002 and as much speed as we could muster.

Believe it or not, a small roll pin went into my rear kart tire at a race in Las Vegas. It was perfectly vertical to make a tiny straw. No idea how long it was there before it lost enough pressure to cause a spin on a long sweeper doing maybe 80. The land beside the old road race track before the new oval was flat and sandy. I didn't think I would ever stop. When I did the kart and I were all the same color.

Utility knife blade

My nephew. I was visiting my sister outside of Chicago for a weekend. I look out the window and her 14 year old and a few buddies were standing at the back of my car. Next day, about 300 miles down the road I feel a low tire. When I go to fix it I pull a 4" knife blade out. Pretty sure he was being cool for the boys and stuck his knife in it. Probably didnt count on breaking the blade off in the tire. He was pretty much a punk in his youth but did grow out of it and turned out pretty good.

Wow, thought I would be the only one to ever find a brake pad in there. What are the odds? Mine somehow got sucked into the tire entirely, so we pulled the wheel off the car not knowing what caused the tire to go flat. Shaking it made a loud rattling sound and it wasn't until the tire was removed that the brake pad was discovered.
