The Italian Job reminded me of Le Casse aka The Burglars (1971) with Omar Sharif. It has a epic car chase in Greece between a Fiat 124 and an Opel Rekord. The cars get super thrashed in this.

The movie that I bought on DVD because Blockbuster was selling it really cheaply, but I only ever watched once and then got rid of because it was SO BAD despite P-car content...

I saw this movie way, way back on TV, so probably 1983-84-ish. It made an impression on me, and was the reason that I read the entire "Mulholland Drive" thread on this board when I found it (several hundred pages worth).
