Need a new 'droid phone ....
My Moto G 5G (2022) on the T-Mobile network, constantly "flip-flops" between 5G and 5GUC... it's a feature that can't be disabled :(.
I want a bare-bones, small, 5G 'droid that doesn't support this crap. I also would like a phone that stores yer "contact list" on a sim.... is there one? I wish I knew somebody like Steve or Nick :D edited: $200 is the most I will pay, it will run no apps, only a browser .... and I ain't making any porn movies ;) |
My latest phone is the Moto G Play from Walmart....$45
Just move your sim to it. I use mine with TracPhone and pay $8 month. |
I need one of the other Steves ... he knows a bit about 5G/5GUC stuff ... and 3 more things ... that he looked up for me before :D.
Nick ... he sells tractors ;) |

Since you're not running any apps, couldn't you just turn off 5g altogether?
Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Tap Preferred network type. Pick 4g or 4glte or something that is not 5g. |
I disable 5g and keep it on lte due to the excessive battery consumption of 5g.

Turning off 5G never seems to be permanent, as it will always revert back, or I have to manually switch it because 4G is "hosed" on some sites and I can't tuna fish ... but I can still tuna network :). I have all kinds of DNS issues too (because of this) ... just ask Steve how much I still forgot about years ago :D.
Speaking of turtles .... that's my network/bandwidth requirements .... 2G/3G was better than this :(. Thanks guys! I just want to fish for minnows... |
I can't speak for 'droid as I use an iPhone, but we bought the last few phones from backmarket(refurbished) and were happy with them.
