Low Country double murder gets more interesting…

Not long ago, a son and mother were murdered at the family farm, in the Low Country. The son had been charged with murder several years back, when driving a boat at night, he crashed and a girl was killed.

Just a few days ago, the father has now been shot in the head, but survived.

Sounds like a wealthy family has some skeletons in the closet, with murder and mayhem. And somebody is out for payback.

I don't think it is revenge on a wealthy family, I think it is revenge on a lwayer. It will be interesting to see what unfolds.

Well, if you are into Southern society crime drama, this story has all kinds of twists. There are MULTIPLE additional vectors in play here. The father is a lawyer and was also a traveling part-time DA for several counties in the Low Country. That's right, he both PROSECUTES crimes while also DEFENDING criminals. And it has been that way, within the family for literally almost 100 years until a family ally was elected into the position in 2005. The now-deceased son was implicated anonymously in a completely different murder. A case that was closed but apparently recently re-opened . Also several law enforcement officers have been subpoenaed around their behavior related to the treatment of the now dead son when the boating death occurred. Apparently he got the kid glove treatment. And oh yeah, the family housekeeper was killed in a 'trip and fall" accident at some point in the not-too-distant past. Honestly, I think the father may be way more involved and not merely a victim here and now is trying to build some sympathy points ofr himself (shot, entering rehab, widower, etc.) Seems horrible, I know, but just too many oddities occurring around him. Rumor is he had a side squeeze or two. Regardless, if I was the surviving son, I'd be dodging my Dad's requests to join him for a late night dinner. And I expect the book to be published in early 2023. :0

South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh resigned from his law firm after he learned he was being investigated for the misappropriation of millions of dollars the day before he was allegedly shot in the head on a rural road, the New York Times first reported.

Murdaugh’s law firm, PMPED, founded by his grandfather over 100 years ago, confirmed to the paper Monday that it had hired a forensic accounting firm to investigate the missing funds, which a member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, claims is in the millions, and had also informed police and the South Carolina Bar Association.

Read a story today that the "shot in the head" was actually "grazed by a bullet" in the head area. This dude is getting guiltier by the minute.
