Yum!
I'll take cod over salmon any day.

Nice, congrats! "He sleeps with the fishes" has a slightly different meaning in this one.

What are you planning to make?

vash 09-21-2025 06:29 AM

no clue on recipes.

to on the "no-fly" list. nothing deep fried. and nothing in a tortilla of any sorts. I overplayed those.

vash 09-21-2025 06:30 AM

Sometimes a guy just needs a coddle.

What is the red fish? Never seen one that bright red and I've Googled it, too.

oldE 09-21-2025 09:41 AM

He doesn't always fish to catch a cod. Sometimes he just fishes for the halibut.

Tishabet 09-21-2025 12:38 PM

Looks like a lingcod (not a "true" cod... much better!) and a vermillion rockfish. Nice work Vash!

My additional 3 cents:
-You should get yourself a proper kill bag so you can fit your entire fish inside now that you are pulling in the bigguns
-try either using cold packs or packaging the fish in plastic (I use bread proofing bags) before putting on ice, saltwater species with their skin exposed to freshwater ice will absorb moisture into their flesh and end up a little soggy. If that happens you can draw water back out using kosher salt FWIW.
-both of those species make great fish tacos, yum!
