code reader recommendation
None professional grade, inexpensive, to read a few check engine light code. A general one that works on Japanese and my Porsches

I’ve been happy with my BlueDriver. The app is easy to use, good dashboard and the reports are simple.

Last year I purchased a Foxwell 710 with software specific to Porsche . I did that because I also have an Autel with generic software for a variety of cars . One thing I like about the Foxwell is free lifetime updates . I can also pay a fee to get additional specific software for other brands . Autel is an excellent scanner but you have to pay for every update unless that has changed .

I'll second what 70SATMan said. I've been very satisfied with the BlueDriver. It's surprising how much you can actually do to diagnose and there are suggested fixes for common issues as well. You'll find it on Amazon.

I have a Launch x431, it has modules that are specific to each make. It’s just ok, and the Ram module bricked my air suspension and I had to download another software. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Just ordered. My 09 Cayman S threw a check engine light, idling was rough and no power from the gas pedal input. Upon restarting the car, All is well. I read it might be the gas cap. Lets hope its just that. Some sensors are a PITA to get at.
