"The Long Road Home" - Helene documentary

The Winston-Salem local TV station will air this tonight. They also report on the devastation and recovery efforts almost daily. Just a heads up... WXII...

It will take years ... and will never be "what it was" ... the whole mountain region. Some valleys escaped any damage, and some valleys and mountain sides were totally wiped out... and still are.

It will also be available via some free app ... I have no affiliation.

It will be worth watching... thanks.

Not sure if this will be available long or will actually allow embedding. (yep, looks like it allows embedding)

I'm not much into conspiracy theories, but...
East TN's Norris Lake water level dropped so fast right before Helene came through the hood and parked.
Then Helene filled the lake back to normal levels.
Kinda freakie how someone made the decision to deviate from normal operation.
Lake levels are dropping like a rock again.
Hope it's nothing.

That's not a conspiracy, I think that's actually normal operation/process for lakes that are based on dams built across rivers. It's just not widely publicized. But due to the rains earlier this year in Texas, there was a lot more talk around lake levels, rain, flooding, etc... When rain that may be big has a strong chance of hitting an area where there's a dam-based lake, the dam people will work closely with meteorologists to protect the dam. I believe that usually involves letting some water out to ensure that the water doesn't end up topping the dam when the rain hits.

My guess is that there's a notebook at the dam that has this process written down, but most folks have no idea because they aren't privy to the notebook.
