Why would anyone trust AI?

I googled for Korean, worldwide and US number locations for Kyochon and Bonchon Korean fried chicken number of locations this morning. I just did the searches again and got extremely different numbers. This morning Bonchon had 147 locations in the US. Now it has 25.

Same text searches also provide completely different kinds of results.

AI is awesome. Clearly you're just doing it wrong!

Maybe after the last time you checked the AI went and checked and found that it was wrong the first time and updated its answer? LOL

Depends on what you are using AI for....

I prefer to use chatgpt now for programming related searches and queries, simply because it does do a good job with that especially our old "so unsupported we can't even buy a license for it any more because IBM has no way to charge us for it" software stack (EGL/VG). At least when it gives me an incorrect answer ("how can i convert a string to a date in EGL?") I can say "no, that wasn't it" or "no, I don't have that library available" and it will correct itself. Maybe after two or three tries.

I trust it to make code for me like I would have a first semester intern do... but the AI types much faster

"Take this CSV header row and give me a java object to import it to using the OpenCSV BindByColumnName annotation, generate a DB2 create table statement, make the strings all varchar(100), add a autoincrement index field as the primary key, and generate a jpa repository to use the import object as the db entity object"

Then paste in the header row, hit go, take a gulp of coffee, and the code is done. I can do it manually with some scripting cheats I created years ago in about 45 minutes.

I always end up tweaking the field sizes for string values, fiddling with column names to match our internal standards, and depending on what number values represent I change the data type from Decimal to BigDecimal (money stuff).

AI was pretty good with this.

^^^ Yes, but how many fingers does she have on each hand?

WPOZZZ 10-05-2025 03:07 PM

Fingers are ok. Hope she doesn't have hooves.

Shaun - Can't you make Korean chicken at home? IIRC, it is just double fried.

There was a link to a specific product on another forum to Am for a 2-pack. I used the link 4 times and got 4 different pages, the 4th being the 2-pack. If that is typical of searches anymore, there's your answer.

The first # was before the Restaurant Health Inspections for the day.

Right now AI is being hyped to the max. The fact is it's not very useful but this will change very soon.

Think ahead to 2030 and beyond.

You’re using it wrong or asking the question in a way it doesn’t understand. That’s on you. I don’t trust it, but I do use it to do summarization of large datasets every week. It does deep research for me citing sources. I’ve literally gained 1/2 day per week.

Googles AI answer thingy offered a tax strategy but left out THE major qualifier that determines whether or not it is tax fraud. ie if x is not true you are committing tax fraud.

Do not trust 'AI'.

So, anyone using grok or just the free ones that populate on search engines?

Yes, I've made it many times and developed a killer gochujang sauce taking from 3 or 4 other recipes. I was posting on another thread about fried chicken and that Dave's Hot Chicken recently sold for $1 billion. I was considering doing KorFC 6 years ago; today, the market may be saturated and I have been working on Florentine sandwiches and Neapolitan and Roman pizza instead given that All'Antico Vinaio opened in NYC a year or two ago and is opening a Boston location next year.

But I don't think Korean fried chicken is oversaturated. What I didn't save was testing flour and starch types and ratios for best double fry flavor and color. But that's just testing.

Considering the questions it asks when you sign up, I’m surprised anyone would sign up for it…

GH85Carrera 10-06-2025 05:21 AM

I saw one article that a couple planned a vacation in Europe with AI. It guided them to attractions that do not really exist.

I gave the article itself a 50-50 chance of being pure BS.
