Vinyl post wraps/sleeves - any negatives ?

I am redoing our front porch , first thing to do was to replace the four posts . That is done and they are 6x6 pressure treated . If I paint them I have to wait a minimum of 3 months which holds up the project . I see there are 4 piece vinyl wraps that you cut to length and then snap together to encapsulate the posts . Other than cost any negatives ?

I plan on vinyl handrails also , not getting any younger and I do not care for painting in general . House is white vinyl siding . Before I pull the trigger on the wraps just want to hear your experiences . I am in north Georgia so mild winters and hot summers . The porch gets the afternoon sun .

I just got done researching and have no issue with vinyl wraps. My biggest concern for my own use was, I wanted black wraps and couldn't find any that had color all the way through. The nice thing about a 4 piece wrap is that it can be removed and replaced. There are some really composite post wraps out there but they get really spendy really fast. I'd go vinyl wrap over wait and paint all day.

Could you post a link to the four piece wrap you're talking about?

I've got some posts on our gazebo, such as it is, that I'd like to put something on as they're pressure treated and the grandkids like to touch them, which isn't a good thing.

Weatherables are made in Ohio and online reviews are very good . I saved $80.00 buying from Amazon vs buying direct . With free shipping .

I also ordered 40 ' of white vinyl handrails with black round aluminum ballisters . OUCH ! But zero maintenance for the rest of my life AND it's what my spousal unit wanted

It's a good subject.

I can't imagine how many buried wood fence-posts fail, after only a decade.

Why are all your links bad? They don't show up as hot links until quoted and then go to page not found.

Well, I can't post a link now to Amazon either. So they shot themselves in the balls.
Sorry, man.

^^^ If they'd have offered black wraps I'd have bought their product. It's weird, with black being a very popular color now, how few offer a black post wrap for a 6x6. I found PVC slide on sleeves but I was concerned that the color doesn't go all the way through. For the posts on my patio I think I'm going with LP Smart Siding and painting it black only because the wrap options I have are stupid expensive.

Those vinyl wraps are $$$$$$ I'm doing a small fence to cover the air conditioner and trash can right now. I don't want to wait months for the treated to dry so I can paint and am thinking cedar. About $38 for a 4x4x8 cedar post. It's all well-drained sand around here so I'm not concerned with decay. Seems like somebody would've come up with a hack for painting/staining treated lumber by now, but apparently not.

We use PVC 3/4" boards with Cortex concealed screws to hold the 4 boards around the post. Less flimsy than the wraps, paintable, and will easily last a lifetime.

Maybe relevant, maybe not: I added on to my front porch and had to replace the posts holding up part of the porch cover. I used vinyl fence posts over 4x4's. I also installed vinyl hand railing. 10 years so far and no issues. I just pressure wash 'em about once a year and still looking good.

Don't have to paint them. It's just an added benefit of the product. I'm looking at a composite product called ACRE that is stainable.
