Extreme Halloween Decorations result in 911 calls

https://www.nbcnews.com/video/extreme-halloween-decorations-lead-to-911-calls-249686085780

There were other examples. This seems a bit extreme. Points for creativity though!

Happy Halloween!

I've never understood adults fascination with Halloween. When I was a kid, we made up some goofy costume and went out and got candy. Now it is an enterprise and far too many adults are into it.

Here's what I think is off:

- older HS age kids trick or treating. IF you can drive a car...
- adults taking their infants around to trick or treat. If the kid can't speak...
- way too much gore. Just get a bed sheet and cut two eye holes into it.
- the huge lawn decorations.

And I'll add: when I lived in Germany we were informed that Germans do not celebrate Halloween or do trick or treating. But since I lived in Army housing that was outside of the gate and semi accessible to Germans, they would come by with their kids to get candy. A lot of them either didn't know what to say, nor were able to speak it in English.

Not to worry, Christmas decorations will go up on November 1. We'll just gloss over Thanksgiving.

Most dog owners rank Halloween up there with July 4th as "least favorite holiday."

Used to put out lots of candy for the kids, now go completely dark to avoid the dog unit needing to declare DefCon 1 all night.

I'm not sure making the house look like it's on fire is a good Halloween decoration. I would give them an A for the realism.

I don't decorate for Halloween, but I do love seeing all the costumes of the kids who trek the 250 meters from the street to my home in the dark. The 10 or so trick-or-treaters are greatly rewarded for that trek with full-sized candy bars. Last year, we were informed we were the favorite house in our small neighborhood because of the candy. This year, they will get bags with the candy bar, Halloween stickers, glow sticks, and other little goodies. Was really thinking of getting mini bottles for the parents, lol.

I’m fortunate to be far from the road so zero people coming to the door….

I remember when we were kids, we went to this one house, and my buddy asked for a glass of water. When the lady walked into the kitchen, my buddy dumped the bowl of candy into his pillowcase, and we booked it out of there. It was getting late, so I don’t know if she got any more trick-or-treaters. Hopefully not.

The night before Halloween, was always mischief night. Exploding mailboxes, toilet paper thrown over telephone wires and lit on fire, cherry bombs and M80s go boom boom, etc. Good times!

^^^ We only did it on THE night....

Robbie died a few years ago ... total success ... until Covid

Lee went to West Point a couple of years later ... I lost track of him.

I learned not to hit a cop car with an egg .... Lee & I washed it off, and I got the bottle rockets out of the back seat that I had stashed earlier

We were the GOOD KIDZ !

And Stoooopid....
