Remember what you were doing 45 years ago today?
I was watching MNF with a buddy when Howard Cosell gave us the news.

I was pulling into my carport at my apartment. Just like the vision of where I was when I heard of JFK's murder; I can see that carport and my 1977 Yellow Datsun pickup. Really a sad day.

I was busy starting a new company. It barely registered on my radar. I do remember some conservative commentator, I think it was George Will, calling him a “cypher” and thinking how smug and out of touch those people are. John was important to a lot of people.

According to my timeline spreadsheet, I was coaching novice men's crew at Brandeis and working at a boutique M&A consulting firm doing interview data analysis. For some reason it was annotated as a "hard" year in the life column but I'm not sure why.

At that time, I was working with a few older (50's) guys. One of them, a strict Baptist, said he couldn't feel bad about Lennon. He said the Beatles were responsible for America's drug problem. I just turned and walked away....no use arguing about it.
