So far I've found glue traps and mouse traps very effective (as this guy will tell you) but only with a trick. Take a paper bag or big Amazon mylar bag and crumple it up and place it over the trap like it's in a little cave. Traps just along the wall or anywhere else, no love. Under something, good success rate. Note that the trap didn't kill this guy. Also thinking of getting a cat for the shop.

I've had good luck with traps over the years. I've found that cheese and peanut butter are moderate, but meat, like sausage, pepperoni, hard salami, etc... all seem to work pretty well. Yes, placement is also key.

I've also used some poison that does work, but also makes a mess and seems like it attracts more guests.

Interesting, I have always gotten their head.

I’ve heard that it’s best to bait the trap one time without setting it. After one time they feel more comfortable going after the bait.

And use some old jersey gloves while handling the trap....they have great smellers.

I like the walk the plank trap with peanut butter on the far edge.

2nd the get a cat.
I have 2 outside cats.
I leave napkins in my cars to see if any mice are nesting there.
After cats, no nests in cars.

I don't have enough trape for our garden shed so I leave a box of instant potatoes instead of poison because the barn cats hang around.

I don't know if it repels or kills them, but no nests in any equipment since keeping the taters stocked out there.

I have had zero success with spring rat traps. For the moment old fashioned moth balls seems to keep them out of select areas. Plenty of bait to go along with it. But the bait we buy in CA is a waste of money. I guess I'm just trying to annoy them.

Honestly, just paying the pro is pretty much the way to go in the city.
