Leaves are turning color and falling in days

Don't know if it's because of the late summer weather in October....but they just started turning color and they're falling.

Today was the first time I used my new Honda engine in the Trac Vac. Surprised how much more suction it has than the B&S engine did. And quiet...can hardly hear it over the JD engine noise. Happy with it.

I've put my citrus inside for the winter.

Trees here in metro MN haven’t got too serious about dropping yet. I do need to blow out my lawn sprinklers very soon though.

There are a few stragglers hanging on...otherwise my black walnut tree is bare.
Total of 26-28 wheelbarrows for the season with maybe one more up there yet.

This brings back fond memories of my dad's leaf vac.
The only problem with is was how quick it filled up!:D

My trees have been slowly turning. It’s been a mild fall so far. Oak trees are turning yellow all of a sudden. This is my favorite time of year. No bugs!

^^^ LS
The worst problem with mine is getting the load of leaves out of the cart when full.
I only need to unload it once or twice at the most for my 1.25 acres...but the leaves get chopped up by the mower blades and then compacted in the cart from the blower.

I use a 5 tine pitch fork to work the bale out. The fork will barely go into it because of the compaction....and then I only get a small amount out with each stab.

It takes a good 5 minutes to unload one cart full...and it's all work.
When I get it emptied....one cart full looks like four.

Yeah. Mine gets dumped too frequently. I vac 1 acre of lawn and 3-4 acres of horse pasture, and it needs to be done from now til the end of November as stuff from the adjoining woods blows in. Many times to dump.

Happy to hear you're back on your feet...

I think we'll have a bunch of stuff drop leaves Nov, Dec, maybe even Jan. We don't really get much color. Most of the trees here go from green to brown to bare over the course of a few days. We even had a maple tree at our old place. I remember us getting a cold front in Dec and in 24 hours the maple leaves went from green to yellow to brown to the ground.

^^^ We are late this year for fall colors. Our normal first freeze is the first week of October and we haven't had one yet.
The length of daylight controls the change of colors....maybe the last few weeks of sunshine days has delayed it.

First frost of the season....29 degrees this morning.
Trac Vac will be used this afternoon...yard is half covered with leaves.

Yup! :D My dad's had canvas sides which would really overfill and you had to be careful not to rip the sides with whatever you cleaned it out with. I'm super fortunate that where I live it's so windy the yard cleans itself.

I was going to get a pick of the deer bedding right outside my bedroom window this morning, but by the time I got the camera, they had woken up, taking their morning poops, and walked off.

Early am on the leaf compost pile. When the pile is steaming in the morning..they love to lay on it. :)
