Ex North Koreas Submariner learns about US sub food 14m video

This is a very cool video. It's an ex NK submariner learning about the food on a US submarine and talking about how that compares to NK subs and reacting to it.

She did defect. This video looks like it's going to have more on that.

very limited rations of mostly canned items. She said that they would load up with limited rations, although submariners got higher end rations than most of the rest of the military except possibly pilots. But due to limited space to store them due to the small size of the subs, they didn't get much. She made it sound like they didn't cook anything, just ate straight out of the can. And she said that they'd load up, go out, and when they ran out of supplies, they'd go back to base so they could load up and go back out. American subs having cooks, kitchens, and "mess halls", and resupply several times while out.

I wish my dad was still around, I'd ask him about his thoughts on the video because he spent time on nuclear fast-attack subs. I do remember him talking about cooks and stuff, so I assume what's in the video is probably realistic even if it is likely to be polished due to being for some sort of promotional video. I think while on the subs, they mostly wore "poopy suits" (overalls).

As told to me by a career Filipino USN submariner:
Universal to a young submariner is the affect of being off the boat in a warm rain, disconcerting.
Its the same as a shower on the boat in your only private moment you have on one.
At work he would smile in the rain and shimmy.
