It has been used by the alternative medicine crowd for a while, but it is also used in the hospital on certain patients.
I think it's more visible now because RFK Jr has been filmed using it.

Right, Methylthioninium chloride is an inhibitor of monoamine oxidase (MAO) A. Very bad drug drug interrelations if one is taking it with any sort of SSRI, SNRI or other MAOIs. Same with opiates (stay away from your local opium den for at least 2 weeks before starting Methylene Blue) and older tricyclic anti-depressants.
