Australian V8 supercars racing

I re-discovered them recently since Youtube kindly posts replays/highlights.

Probably the best racing series on the planet ! I still rate WRC drivers the highest, then F1, but the racing there is unreal... Watching these beasts bounce off the sausage kerbs at gold coast, driving on 2 wheels, or my fav Mount Panorama circuit (bucket list, that).

It's good reason that Aussies have done well in NASCAR. They are really good. I think marketing them to the American public could be the only reason there aren't more.

By "marketing" I'm talking about the whole deal from things like the Penske development program to individual family money and sponsorships to make it up to the show. Very rare a driver gets there on talent alone.

Shane Van Gisbergen is the Kiwi currently thoroughly dominating NASCAR road racing. He won pole and the race at the first NASCAR race at Chicago, his first race in the class. He's getting better on ovals now too.
