Vintage lawn tractor for mowing?

Latest rental house has a sizable lawn. I can mow it with a push mower in about 40 minutes, not the end of the world. It occured to me that this may provide coverage for me to indulge in another mechanical hobby. Is there a vintage lawn mower that I could reliably use to mow? 48 inch deck would be plenty. Are there vintage platforms that have well supported parts?

Yep! I can't remember the year exactly.. I spent many, many hours in the seat mowing the homestead and a couple other local properties. Dad picked up the wheel weights and blade pretty quickly after we got it. Our 'driveway' is almost 1/4 mile from the house down and up a gully to the main road. It's pushed many a foot of snow in the winter. He's also a plow but, hasn't used that for the garden in years. Can't remember the size of the mower deck.

That pic is from last June during a month long trip home. I fired her up, changed oil and filter to make sure dad can use it this fall and winter. He's 87 and still spends most of his time outside.

You'd be surprised how much money he's been offered for it. Told Mom that he shouldn't sell it,, Needs to stay with the property.

Ford, Craftsman, Husqvarna all made trade-quality riding mowers that are still supported. Now is probably a good time to go shopping at end of season.

This wheel horse is the oldest one I have thats actually ok at mowing. Its pretty low on power for thick grass and the way the deck is powered is a little funky but it works. I dont use it very much but its very fun to run it feels like operating a real tractor. When men were men and tractors were tractors. It even has a cig lighter

Hi HardDrive- Huge Wheel Horse fan. Parts availability is quite robust through both Ebay and several online WH dedicated websites. I've owned my 1969 Workhorse 700 since 2000, and it performs flawlessly in both Summer & Winter. Both the Lawn Deck and Snowthrower are 32" in width.

And it's also safe for highway travel!...

The 70's/80's era John Deere and Cub Cadets were built like tanks . Parts availability is good and even accessories are still easily found . With proper maintenance they will run another 20 + years .
