Nice TR2 And A Journey Of Learning

https://youtu.be/ueg4c27wRmA?si=MTh-PCj5IRTChtDy

I have fallen into the rabbit hole of all things Triumph and came across this video and thought the story was pretty cool.
I used to think the TR2 and TR3 were kinda ugly looking but, well, my opinion has changed a bit. I do prefer the "small mouth" TR2, and I guess when it comes to looks, you either love em or hate em.

Many years ago I went to a house to pick up an old jigsaw I bought from a guy in the want ads. When I got there he wasn’t home so the lady of the house opened the garage door and there was a complete TR-3 with the sliding windows, everything. Very dusty. Leather in great shape.

Of course I asked to look at it and she says, ‘Sure!’

I said you wanna sell it?

Yes!

How much?

$1500.

$1500? Does it run?

Runs great.

She started it right up. So I go to my car to get the checkbook which, I found out, I had left at home. I NEVER leave home without my checkbook. So I said I’ll be right back with my checkbook.

‘OK. I’ll get the manuals and gather up whatever else we have (like the tonneau cover). Etc.

So I run back checkbook in hand. Knock on the door. Lady answers.

‘Sorry. Not for sale.’ And she glances back at her husband. ‘We changed our minds.’

I have a problem with British cars. And? I want a TR2/3. I am sure to regret it.

I think the MGA is a beautiful car!!!
This one really does it for me. I was actually looking at MGAs and mulling over wether I could afford one when my TR6 came back into my life!!! Funny how that just happened like that!!!
Going in the morning to pick up my old Redcoat. I feel so dang nervous, like I am meeting an old girlfriend that I haven't seen in 35 years for lunch or something!!!

They are great little cars and very sporty. That goes for almost all of them, if they are in proper fettle.

MGAs are beautiful and kind of begging for a mild upgrade under the hood, maybe something British and newer. But they’re also fine stock.

V6 swaps seem popular in the MG crowd . A V6 would be a hoot in a small lightweight chassis .

Hmmm, yeah, I would keep it all somewhat original, I'm a purist like that I guess. I'm sure there is a way to get more power out of the MGAs four banger if that is what is wanted.
Concerning my TR, I only want to put another Monza exhaust system on it and possibly a triple webber set up and cast aluminum valve cover, that would be sweet.

You will hate the monza. It’s way too loud.

If you have the $ and can find one get an ansa.
Otherwise the moss stock stainless is a fair option.
Triple webers are for looks without engine mods. They do look good though.

And if you can find one the shorrock superchargers are a nice period power upgrade

V8s more so with the Bs. Have a look at britishv8…

500hp in a 2200lb car is silly fun. Until it rains - then you are driving miss daisy.
