test of new 2004 vehicle?

I am on a small back country road here and as I come around a tight bend I see this car on the side of the road and as I get closer I realize that is the new crossfire! I continue down the road and there are two more with engineers I guess looking them over. Another mile down the road there is another one ahead of me...but going too slow, so I pass him and then I notice the camera crews on the side of the road as if they are shooting footage for a commercial or something. My guess is they won't use the footage of the old yellow 911 passing the crossfire! Ha Ha.

I am going to go back out there today with my digi cam, a friend tells me they have been out there all week testing and such.

Cool looking car BTW.

The custom independent short-and-long-arm front and rear suspension uses coil springs placed over the shock absorbers. The Crossfire is estimated to achieve 60 mph. (97 kph) in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 148 mph. (238 kph).

Thats weird, the one i saw at the dealer said 3.0 liter, 215 horsepower. If that 275hp is an option, i like it that much more.

I saw one last weekend at a small town dealership in Franklin Indiana. Kind of funky looking like the Infiniti fx45. I think I like the HotWheel version of it better.

k9 - I thought Germans had enough sense to avoid most american cars

..... Sort of kidding. I just look at it and get repulsed, I like the look, not the ride, of the new Z so its not new cars - just that one. I don't know - wish I could explain it, its just so awfull to look at for me.

K-9 - I think the stats you have for the Crossfire were the initial hopes for the horsepower. While it still retains the V6, the last I heard is it will use a Mercedes engine that puts out 215 bhp.

That state-of-the-art V6 engine is the backbone of M-B's drivetrain lineup; used in their ML-SUV, sedan, coupe and now, Chrysler Crossfire lineups. Because of this, used parts should be plentiful and easy to find once the inevitable happens. Their V8 engine is just a variation of the six.

I have made trips back out to the area and no sign of the vehicles...so I guess they moved on. Not a big deal...just thought it was funny that I passed them in my 911 as they were shooting footage and how it wont make it past the editing room! Ha Ha...would be cool to see the film footage though.
