OMG. I have wondered about this day for many years. Unless I miss my guess, our nation will cry a big tear.

May he rest in peace..in Arlington. He deserves the honor.

I awoke to it this morning. I turn on CNN, and they're talking about the celebrity B.H. match. I think, Okay, either he's dead, or they reskedded the match. Sure enough: RIP.

I just don't have an opinion on the man, and I can't fault myself for that. I imagine I'm simply not old enough. As soon as I became aware of him, he began to fade from the limelight.

Almost always, I cycle past his house in Toluca Lake. It's a great place, complete with a golf course. Hope long since moved down to Palm Springs, and gave the house, supposedly, to the church.

I guess he was a good guy. Like anyone, he had his skeletons, and that's about all I'd hear about him.

I wonder who might take his place when an entertainer goes out to see the troops. They can definitely use some fun in Bagdad.

I guess like most Americans I loved Bob Hope movies...I would say an American Icon. In paticular "Ghost Breakers," "The Road to Utopia"...I just loved Larry Lawerence...my kind O Guy.

That said I guess we come back to image...Most people loved the image Hope projected, but like most people we never got to know the man for better or worse. I know an indivdual in the business whose story casts Hope in less than a favorable light...but that can wait for another day...Today is just one that we all knew was coming...the passing of a Giant in the Business.

Boy, you can say that again. 120deg. heat, getting picked-off by snipers on a daily basis when they thought that they would be home by now, morale must be a challenge. :(

Hey Lynn, weren't you a Viet Nam vet? Did you ever see any of those Bob Hope/USO shows?

Oh yeah, RIP Bob Hope. I'm not sad about his passing, he had a very long and incredibly successful life. I'm sad every day about 20-something year olds dying in Iraq. :(
