Wow, this sporty SUV vehicle does look awfully damn good - IMO far more attractive then the Cayenne. I could imagine
![]() ![]() Hahahha, of course it won't ![]() But those infiniti's are basically my favorite new, non porsche, reasonably priced vehicles. ![]()

Opposite question about the Cayenne is scary: What car most resembles it?
IMHO - it is the Hyndai Santa Fe. Infiniti is cool looking, as is the VW 2-aah-reg. Even like the Volvos XC90's looks better!!!!!!

It's not about the Cayenne's looks...it's all about how it drives. All the doubters should drive one before they comment. They just might be impressed.

True enough. How do you like your Cayenne?
Got the PCA invite to drive one in Chicago on 8/15. And, yes, I hate to admit it 'cause I don't like it's looks, but I'm thinking about buying one for my wife next spring because she does. Of course I've been wrong before - she currently has a Volvo XC70 and it's looks have grown on me. When I first saw it I thought all the plastic cladding was cheesy, but I really like the car now. She has a much wider appreciation of machinery. She likes the looks of the Honda Element, and even appreciates the Aztec!!! The Element is kooky enough that I like it, but Aztec is not so ugly that it's cute. It's just ugly. That what makes the world go around I guess. She likes to drive the 911 and wants an Acura NSX as soon as the kids are older, so I'll get her whatever she likes if we can afford it! I hope the prices come down to MSRP by next May!

Am I one of the few here who likes the Cayenne? For the price, there are a lot of p-cars that I would rather drive, but for an SUV I think it is pretty good looking. My .02 ~Eric

Cayenne isn't ugly really. It is smooth and modern. I think it should have looked "tougher" - squareish, I guess. I like some views of it.
I guess the killer for me is the lights. The front should be something else than 996/Boxster. Tougher or sleeker? I don't know, but different. The Boxster lights were a great look on the prototype way back when, when people were first integrating aero lights onto new cars. But they should never have gone onto the 911 or Cayenne. I guess I have never warmed up enough to the 996, and the Cayenne is suffering for it. Maybe I just need time. It already looks better to my eyes than it did a year ago. Like I said above, my wife usually has a better/quicker ability to appreciate new looks. I'm stuck with a Platonic problem - the farther a car gets from THE CAR I have in mind (Doyen), the less I like it. Thus all Porsches should look like 356/911's and all Ferrari's like 246 Dinos/512/308s.

Guys, I've had my Cayenne for a week now. I originally had an '04 MB E500 4-matic sedan on order for a November delivery. About three weeks ago I was on vacation and during a lazy morning I took my 930 to the local dealer to take a look at the "pig". In person, in the right color and with the right wheels, it really did not look that bad...way better than it looked in print. I was intrigued enough to take a test drive and was extremely impressed. Let me start by saying I really can't stand SUV's and with its extreme curb weight the Cayenne will never be truely "nimble" in a sports car sense. But for what it is, a fairly large, five passenger, go anywhere vehicle, I was stunned. The sound of the new V8 is absolutely glorious, right up there with our cherished flat six, the directional stability is solid as a rock, the ride comfortable and the handling and steering feel impressive, better than my Audi A6 2.7t that I just turned in. I do believe the adjustable air suspension that I have is a must have option contributing much to the details listed above. As far as comfort goes, this is the best Porsche interior ever. It's beautifully crafted with high quality materials and very nicely styled. The standard stereo is very good and the air conditioning, even without the optional second compressor, will freeze your nuts off. To get to the point, although expensive for its type, the Cayenne is an amazingly well-rounded vehicle for the everyday bump and grind. I'm very pleased with my choice.
