As many of you know, I had a stroke this past February and am now hoping to help others learn the lessons I have learned. I am also training to walk a 26.2-mile marathon to benefit the American Stroke Association!
No, I haven’t lost my mind…and my 38th birthday this past month hasn’t created a mid-life crisis! I have decided to take on this long-time goal in a sensible and fun way! By joining the ASA’s Train To End Stroke program, I have a coach, a team to walk with, training schedules and clinics…and a reason that makes this more than a personal goal. I am helping to raise funds for stroke research, education and advocacy programs. Did you know: • every 53 seconds someone suffers a stroke • every 3.3 minutes someone dies of stroke • there are 4.4 million stroke survivors (including me) • 29% of people who have strokes are under age 65 (including me) I will be walking hundreds of miles over the next four months to prepare for the Honolulu Marathon (December 14). I will also be busy raising over $4000 for the American Stroke Association. I am writing to ask for your support in this effort through your good thoughts and prayers (and band-aids for blisters!) and through your generous contribution to the American Stroke Association. I will be walking this event for myself and others that have been impacted by a stroke. If you have a friend or loved one who has been affected by stroke, I would be honored to complete this event in his or her name as well. I am excited about this effort and look forward to walking on behalf of many who cannot due to a stroke. Please join me in reaching the finish line of my fundraising goal and helping to end stroke! Thanks for your consideration of this request. Please log on to http://www.kintera.org/faf/r.asp?t=4&i=26381&u=26381-8023733&e=20129782 to visit my personal web page and help me in my efforts to support ASA - Los Angeles Sincerely, Kim L. Doll P.S.: Although the event is not until December, my plan is to have my fundraising goal met by November 15th. Your tax-deductible contribution, sent as soon as possible, is greatly appreciated! ![]() |
