It's not the engineers who are making these decisions, its the business departments who are dreaming up idiotic requirements tied to unrealistic schedules. If it compiles - ship it :)

I use a Sony VAIO C1-VPK. Weights 1 kilo, but has 677Mhz Crusoe CPU, 320MB RAM, 60GB hard drive, built-in digital camera and I've added a Verizon wireless modem to connect anywhere. The small screen means more scrolling than other laptops, but it's otherwise a perfect on-the-go machine.
