But that's what I was saying. It attacks and infects you fast, it must be a small file, as I've got some slow dial-up. If it were the virus that is. Within 5 minutes of being online from a fresh clean install, I had the RPC shutdown again. It seems that patch has put an end to it, along with the software enabled firewall. Whatever happened to the good old virus attachment that you could just delete? This passive/aggressive crap sucks :D |
Found it in prefetch too. Also two locations in the registry.
I can't wait till they find out who wrote this. I get his eye teeth for my watch fob!!! Here is the other registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\windows auto update |

fast forward to 10:45 p.m. - quick jump on the net to take a load off my mind and surf the board. then, lo and behold!! Hugh comes up with the same problem that the loyal and faithful listers already had a solution to by the time I logged on!! now that's what I call a good community. p-car owners are the best! bottom line? I get to fix the problem for the boss tomorrow with minimum fuss and look like I've been burning the midnight oil to resolve the issue. :D life is sooo unfair sometimes! :D:D:D |

-Z-man. |
why move this to the OT, some things should STAY where people actually will VIEW it so it will HELP them too
|

|
thanks, Z-man, for moving this to the OT . . . I wouldn't have seen it otherwise.
