Paging the Italians...
Hi Milu, Isabo and other Italians out there,
Next Sunday I will be flying to Rome to do a 10 day tour of Central Italy. I plan to spend 4 days in Rome, 2 days in Florence, 1 day in Siena+Pisa and 2 days in Naples. I will be renting a car (Fiat Punto) and am booking the hotels myself through the internet. I plan to visit Naples mainly to see The Pompei ruins, although I think there is a very interesting archaeological museum there. Also I have to stop by the town of Camerino (Marche) to see a friend. I am deliberately leaving out Milan and Venice since I will be going there later this year. Any recommendations? Thanks |

There's not a lot I can suggest that you won't see explained better in any tourist guide as I don't know the areas you are visiting well. What I would suggest is be careful of security for pickpockets etc as its their hunting season. Don't leave anything exposed in your car etc.
Isa is sitting with me as I write and she adds to watchout for new driving rules: basically headlights on motorways and dual carriageways, wear a seatbelt, don't use phone without handsfree. Police are very strict at the moment enforcing the letter of the law with a points system on license, as a tourist you would probably get away with it , but if not you might be prosecuted in your home country - exact interpretation is not clear yet. Enjoy your holiday - contact us if you make it to the north.

Thank you very much!!!
With regards to pickpockets, I think I would warn you of the same if you came to Spain ![]() |

Thanks for the tips guys. I managed to come back with my wallet and most of its contents (the rest being well spent doing tourism).
The highlights of the trip were buying a pair of trousers at a newsstand in order to enter St. Peter's in the Vatican (no shorts allowed) and cruising the beautiful Tuscany in search of an elusive Prada outlet (however the Gucci one was found AND deprived of some of its content by my wife). Next trip: Milano in september/october |
