That aftermarket front end is atrocious; sad to think someone paid good money for that.

awww, it's just a baby! Yeah, common snappers get really mean. The nicest common I've ever met was still meaner than the meanest alligator snapper I met. Either one though is easy to handle if you exercise a little common sense.

I wonder how different the Conejo Valley would be today if Amgen had not had so much success. I remember walking down in that canyon one day and seeing tons of dead birds. Scared me.

When I was a kid, you used to be able to swim under Paradise Falls and La Barranca. I went back there a few years ago and the place just smelled of sewage. Its sad.

People still swim under Paradise Falls. It smells like sewage in the east canyon because the Comrosa Water District put in a water reclamation and treatment center. That smell is unrelated to the stream feeding Paradise Falls.

As for the Conejo Valley and Amgen...If Amgen moved it would devastate the real estate values and local economy. Amgen is an integral part of this community. Dos Vientos and other parts of Newbury Park might as well be named Amgenville.

Before we bought the ranch outside of NP, we lived on Colt Lane in Rolling Oaks. I used to climb up to Lizard Rock as a kid in the early '60's. The area was so empty I went to grade school at Conejo Valley Elementary right near Jungle Land.

Our bus stop was on 101, which was two lanes each way.

Amazing.
