About the mystery aircraft. I don't think the c 46 had the lower bulge in its fuselage. I think its a Boeing Stratocruiser. Boeing took the basic components of the B 29 and made a long-range airliner out of them.

Actually its a Boeing model 337, also called the Stratocruser. Air Force model was the C-97 or KC-97.

http://www.boeing.com/history/boeing/m377.html

You cannot tell that I used to work for Boeing huh?

Joeaska - the plane/house IS located not far from an airforce base known for its mid-air refueling, among other things.

Thanks, Cashflyer.

None of the pics I had of the C 46 showed up the bulge in the lower part of the fuselage like that.

Airplane in the photos above is a C/KC-97, no doubt.

Airplane in the photo being used as a house on the previous page is a Curtis C-46.

Lots different in the two birds, the C-46 was a two engine workhorse used during and after WW2, while the C/KC-97 is strictly a post-WW2 airplane.
