No, those are not expensive. Here you get them at every corner.
I dont like them, they are high maintenance.

As for the beautiful "chair" ;) in the pic, I have never undestood how one can sit directly on them. That is hard and hurts.

Flip them over - it's softer on the other side

I remember in elementary school I sat on those hard wooden chairs. It was alright.

U.S. Army TALOS Exoskeleton to Begin Manned Testing in 2019

When ready for combat, the suit would allow the soldier wearing it to perform otherwise impossible tasks. Aside from making them faster and capable of lifting heavier objects, the suit would also protect soldiers thanks to the full-body armor. Combat awareness would be achieved via a series of displays.

The goal of the exoskeleton is to provide troops with enough power and information to drastically reduce casualties during combat operations. Power from it will come from a small combustion engine made only of a shaft and a rotor, that can run at 10,000 RPM and can be extremely quiet.
Robo Cop - Robo Solider is going to be for real.

TALOS (uniform)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TALOS_(uniform)
Quote:

The suit may have not been intended for an entire squad, but for a lead operator who would breach a door first, to protect them as they are the most vulnerable team operator in that situation..............

The exoskeleton supports a body armor system capable of stopping rifle rounds that surrounds 60 percent of the operator, compared to 18 percent with current armor vests. To relieve weight, the leg actuators pick up each leg and moves it as the person moves, and takes the weight of the helmet, armor, and vest down through a rigid, articulated spine, transferring weight from weak areas of the neck and lower back. .............

A small power pack powers the suit, and a cooling vest pumps water through three yards of tubing under the suit to maintain core temperature; the power pack has a cooling fan that can be heard in close proximity, but it is thought that won't matter after breaching a door. The Kinetic Operations Suit has undergone live-fire testing and combat scenarios and successfully performed the same tasks as currently-outfitted operators in similar amounts of time

Special Operations “Iron Man” Suit Takes Shape

The team of around 35 vendors, labs and academic institutions are diving deeper on systems engineering, he said, adding, “We are going to start building parts and snapping them together” while testing for functionality and safety.

The informally named “Iron Man” suit that U.S. Special Operations has been developing will start to come together over the next 18 months with a first prototype expected to be fully built by the end of 2018...................

The 800-part exoskeleton is currently being built using carbon fiber plastics, which is strong enough to replicate and prove design, but not enough to be encumbering or too expensive, Miller said.

The program has used rapid 3-D prototyping as it refines the exoskeleton and has managed to cut what was expected to be a billion-dollar project “way back,” Miller said.

Carbon fiber due to its low density is a material that may be easily machined with CNC machines or manual tools, including angle grinder or dremel.
