His tee shirt - 'I'm a Mod' - is a reference to the "Mods vs Rockers" back in the day. Rockers were seen as old school greasers / bikers where the Mods were seen as trendy, long hair, rode scooters....

In the movie he first found pathfinder by digging down to find the very top of it. So to get it where it is in that picture, he would have had to dig down at least 4 or 5 feet.

But he obviously did not. No hole, no berm, no crater, just level ground around it. Magic. Maybe he levitated it.
