Where to live in North LA?
Hi. Currently I am living in Redondo Beach but have been hired to cover a territory that is in Northern LA and stretches up to past Bakersfield. Most of the business is in the Northern LA suburbs.
Where are the best places to live up there? I want to live close to the coast and am willing to pay for it. Currently I have an ocean view down here in RB. BTW...Im single and am looking to rent, not buy. Any recommendations? Pacific Palisades...Malibu... etc. cool? Last edited by Sonic dB; 09-04-2003 at 03:42 PM.. |

Sonic,
Ventura is a nice little town and easy access to the beach. Seems to be a good place for that sales area. I have a few contacts that I deal with that have a similar sales route and live in the Ventura area. If your territory includes the central coast maybe Santa Barbara area. If you come up for the German Auto Fest you will get a good idea of Ventura. Living in RB you already know the formula for rent and housing costs. The closer to the water = more $$$.

Ventura might be a little far out for N. LA route....Agoura, Calbasas, Simi Valley are all probably better...little inland but....you might even find you can own for what your rent was in RB.
Best place to live in the world boyz is Montecito, CA....just think you could live next to Ophra, you just might need $50,000,000.00 for the house though to get in her neighborhood.

I agree with Tabby on this one. There's also Santa Clarita. Thousand Oaks is in Ventura County, and I've always thought highly of Ventura.
Don't rent in Malibu. Rents are too high and a big 'ol rip off. Except for the "trim" factor, which you could visit anytime, and the star sightings (who cares?), if you want costal, do Ventura County. The water is probably cleaner in Ventura County anyway. Less traffic too.

I love Palisades, but commute is a pain as it is either PCH or take Sunset to get to the 405. Anything in the valley along the 101 (Sherman Oaks to Calabassas to Thousand Oaks) will be inland and hot in the summer, but there are still some nice rolling hills areas (Newbury Park, etc). I really like the areas more towards Camarillo, but you're getting away from north LA and Bakersfield.
Depends on how/where you have to travel. |

Thanks fellas.
After consideration...I am going to try and convince them to let me stay in Redondo Beach. I have a great deal on a nice apt here...and it will cost me much more to live up in those areas. Also...Redondo Beach isnt THAT far from the northern LA areas...only 30-50 miles in most cases... its just dealing with the 405 at the right time of day. South Bay rocks. |
