Best day to drive a 930
Today I left the lexus at home and fired up the 84 930.
Here in Dallas it was cool and cloudy, perfect turbo weather. On my way to the office I see a juiced up mustang in front of me at the Toll booth with a sticker that said "When was the last time you chased a ford". Needless to say the race was "on". This car was mildly quick, but I'm running fuel pumps with more HP. Made short work of this guy, He was nice and waved. Feeling good and enjoyed the rest of my drive to the office. I had a lunch appt. down town so I'm back on the tollway. Next I have a 2ooo Porsche TT with a real ass driving it. It had a few Mods but the driver had no skill and was racing me at 140hph on his cell phone. Kicking his a$$ put a smile on my face. On my way back to the office a real nasty looking supra turbo pulls up and wants to dance, "is this my lucky day or what". This guy was a great driver and a lot harder to beat, this car would be very hard to beat on a standing 1/4 mile. This guy was also very nice, waved and gave me a thumbs up. So far this has been great day, and I still have the drive home. (Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead) |
how fast can you stop from 140?

Maybe you need a bumper sticker that says "the final boss to this game is at home" :D

Good day to quit while you're ahead!
It only takes one sneaky cop to make 140+ a real bad idea. I usually run the mountain early on weekend days. Decided to do it this evening because I'll be out of town this weekend on business. There was traffic on the hill and I was only able to safely pass on the double yellow one time - and you guessed it - as I rounded a corner at tripple the posted speed the man in blue met me oncoming. I cringed even though I knew he couldn't turn around. Went straight home and put 'er away. It's a jungle out there! |

As an update, no action on the way home.
Put her in the garage, wiped her down and let her tell her red sister the hole story. How fast can I stop at 140? Blue, stainless, yellow pagid, monoblocks, 13"Xdrill. I do 2 or 3 events at Texas motor speedway, PCA and a charity event "laps for Kids". I did average 157 on the oval, but I like driving the road course much better. I never race these guys in traffic, I do it as safe as I can. (ie; lots of room, strait hwy, racing harness) I'm hoping to grow out of this speed thing!!! |
157? You must start getting a bit of "tunnel vision" at that speed....
|
AMac Verbal Master bait sion.... did you have a good come on your keyboard....grow up and you might live to be old...
|
Especially on that oval.

Speed doesn't kill, -ΔV/(t=0) kills

140mph+ in a side by side race w/ another car on a public road??
