One more reason to recall Davis?
All of the sudden, dem's want illegal immigrants to have to pass a driving test . . but don't seem to care if they pass the same test that legal immigrants are required to pass.
Could it have to do with "motor-voter" and politically non-savvy masses!? No, of course not. ![]() "The Bill Would Allow Undocumented Immigrants To Submit A State-approved Form Of Identification To Apply For A Drivers License " News Story Link To his credit, Davis vetoed this in the past; but now . . ? Does the California Government have anyone who's trying to actually manage the state? It seems like a bunch of power hungry sell-outs, to me.

As if they needed another reason. Shouldn't his hair be justification by itself?

Too become a registered voter you need proof of residence....a DL serves that purpose...thus illegal aliens can vote....

How's it a stretch? . . .I thought registering to vote was even easier, than what tabs describes. (?)
In my state, I understand that the "motor-voter" laws have the DMV personel asking people to register to vote, but specifically prohibit asking the person *IF* they are elligible (legal citizens) to vote. . . ..thus the whole idea of enticing illegal immigrants to the DMV, for more dem' votes. --hey, there's a limit to how many dead people can vote ![]()

I will definitely agree that our state government is a joke for the most part, and the recall is a true political circus. I'm not a Grey Davis fan, (particularly after this cynical looking legislation got passed), but the recall election? Hypothetically, Davis could get 49% of the vote to stay in office, ("no" on recall), Arnold or some other jackass could get 11% of the vote, and Mr. 11% is now Governor. True representative democracy in action.
![]() As for illegals and other non-eligibles voting, it can and does happen, with or w/o this law. If I was an illegal I would not commit a felony in order to cast one vote for someone, however, thereby permanently assuring that I will NEVER be a citizen of the U.S. if caught. And giving the INS, (or whatever it's called now), pretext for immediately deporting me and anyone near enough to get caught in the sweep. So I believe that it is not quite as simple as getting your license and then voting for Davis. But of course he could have won the votes of many Latinos who are citizens and therefore can help him. The timing of this blows. See everyone, I don't always disagree w/ Island. Just most of the time. ![]()

The is kind of hearsay, I heard it on the radio (not Rush), some states have already talked about not recognizing the CA DL as acceptable identification b/c of this. The biggest reason is not whether someone is an illegal immigrant or not, they are concerned about it being a valid documentation considering how easily obtainable it will be w/ this legislation.
Any form of identification is excepted w/ a thumbprint that cannot even be shared w/ law enforcement. So theoretically, I could have a military ID from Iraq, real or fake, and use to get a DL under a different name making it even easier to establish a new identity. I honestly can’t say I know how much of this gets through the system already but it seems to me that we are going backwards and just making it easier. This bill is focused on illegal immigrants but there are a whole lot of other illegal types that I think we should be worried about.

Maybe this is just a sham so the illegal immigrants can be arrested at the DMV and deported immediately.
![]() The comments on the FOX article are ridiculous. "I want to have everybody behind the wheel to have been tested and I want them to be carrying insurance." Since when did a having a driver's license = carrying liability insurance? Since when did having a driver's license = competence to be on the road? Boy oh boy! |

It seems the recall question is; is Grey Davis the worst, or what!? If +50% believe that ANY 'Bozo clown-A' . . . 'Krusty clown-B' . . .Gary Colman . . . (whomever) -- is a better solution than the status quo, "professional politician" well, I think that the biggest and best part of this process is that you get rid of said "professional politician". Someone who does nothing has got to be better than this guy. A sucessful recall sends a crystal clear message to the "professional politicians" that they are NOT king for a term. Speeder, As to most always disagreeing w/ me . . If you didn't then who would? . . . I'm such an agreeable fellow, donchaknow ![]()

I'm just a nostalgic old fart. Yearning for the good old days...when the air was clean & sex was thankfully dirty...when the "queen of the hop" was a girl...when "drag city" was a race track...and, weird as it sounds, you had to be a citizen to vote in an election. Yep, how weird can you get???

AZ is headed in the same direction. The only difference is that we let the illegals carry guns openly.

I have chronicled my visit to the NV DMV and the hours wait it took. Well part of the reason for such lengthy delays is that NV is trying to stem the flow of illegal Aliens...seems the newest scam for them is to be bused into Oregon where they get an ID and then move to Nevada and get their DL to establish residency.
Now if Crus Bustamonte gets to be Govenator...then we can look forward to CA becoming part of Mexico again? As he is part of the movement in the Hispanic Community to return CA to Mexico.....Viva LA Raza.... Oh isn't CA a woinderfull place....after 49 years there I decided to move, one of the reasons albeit not the largest reason..is that CA is going to be in a world of hurt. For the first time in it's history more people are leaving the state and going to other states than are coming in from other states. The only reason the population of CA is still gbrowing is from immigration. CA allready has increased car regisitration fees....whats going to be next??? Lets see Tobacco and Liquor taxes will be increased....NO brainer there Sales Taxes will be increase to 10%....U unbelievers...ask our Canadian friends on this Board what they pay? How bout City and/or County income taxes....NYC has them, can CA be that far behind? NY is largely a Democratic Party controled state. How bout User Fees....this is a hidden area of taxation....your kid on a School Bus PAY ME FOR A PASS, wana put a room addition on the ole house...PAY ME FOR A PERMIT and new property taxes for the improvment, how bout Toll Roads...Mass. and NY have had them for years...you got it Democratic Party controled states The list is endless of user fees that can be applied....and it's all hidden until you use the service....great way to generate cash flow. BTW they allready do it now. How bout new ways to raise property taxes...all it takes is a little change in the law that says pull a permit on the house get your house reassed at the current value in the neighborhood...great way around prop 13. Oh I remembered how bout Utility Taxes....use your water get taxed....Upland CA has a small business tax base....so what have they done to increase revenue...increased the cost of Water....you can pay $400 a month to water your lawn in Upland...lets see you do without water. A Good friend of mine is an S5 Salesman with 3M, his territory is largely all the Power Companies as well as the big construction compaines and mining companies in the Western US and South America. He was a good ole CA boy growing up there when it was paradise, transfered to Seattle in 1995 and wouldn't go back...has boiught his self 5 acres in Squim, WA for 122K and is going to build a 3400 sq ft house that has a view of Puget Sound all the way into Canada. His opinion which really is a no brainer is that if Davis or Bustamante wins there is going to be a mass exodus of people from CA like you've never seen. I allready know a couple of guys with a couple of bucks in there pocket that have moved over here...one of the wives takes the Gulfstream over to CA to get her hair done.... cause she likes the hairdresser. My Money Manager moved to Tucson in 2000...her opinion is that CA is going to crash and burn, that Arnold is the only hope since W Buffet and G Schulz have access to capital that CA desperately needs....and if it doesn't get it bye bye CA it might as well have sunk into the ocean from the BIG ONE....

"Creative" taxation is virulent just about everywhere you go. Politicians just can't seem to get enough of your money.
High taxes; more taxes....coming to your hometown soon!
