Music is art, art is subjective. Placing ones self on a pedestal above other musicians is arrogance. Arrogance is ugly. I think that money, fame & rehab kill creativity, ie Aerosmith, G&R & Korn. There are a few exceptions, like the Rolling Stones, Marilyn Manson & Tool.

I bought the new "A Perfect Circle" album when it came out on Tuesday and was suprised to find that it was "copy protected". I bought it anyway. I seem to listen to music most at work these days, I just plug my earphones into the front of the CDROM as there's no sound card in the computer. Of course, the CDROM failed to recognize this CD and the software it wanted to install on my computer failed with a "sound hardware not detected" error, or some such. I could probably have gotten it to work on different hardware but I didn't want to bother trying. If I'm going to listen to the music the way I want to it's easier to download the music from the internet than to spend hours screwing around with the CD I paid full price for. If they're going to make it difficult to listen to the music even if I'm prepared to pay for it then the greedy b*stards aren't getting my money.

So, I took it back and I'm going to make it a personal goal to go as long as I can without buying a music CD. I think I can go quite a while.:p

As previously mentioned, there is a happy medium: Used CD's. No worries about becoming a "criminal" by downloading illegally, and at the same time you aren't contributing anything (more) to the fat-cat Labels. All while saving a buck or ten.

Don't forget the indy scene. There's plenty of good stuff out there that isn't "radio friendly".

Truth. Most of what I like these days radio wouldn't touch.
