What is "Steely Dan"

OK get your keyboards ready. Todays Quiz was orginally a question I posed to Mr Olsen on another Board. It was deemed a little to obscure for them. Lets see if this group is a little brighter than that lot over on the other Board.

Todays Question is: What is "Steely Dan"?

A. The name Mr Olsen gave his Underwood Typewriter.

B. The name of a Rock Band.

C. An adult sex toy.

D. All of the above

jyl 09-18-2003 02:04 AM

b, c

Can U explain your answer?

Isabo 09-18-2003 03:27 AM

Steely Dan III from Yokohama?
Starred in a paragraph of the Naked Lunch by William Burroughs.
The band took the name from him/it.

Watch out for the Great Slashtub!tch;)

See that wasn't too obscure....I thinkest the boyz from the Registry are a little slow....

Doug Zielke 09-18-2003 06:27 AM

Isa is the most correct; a character in Burroughs famous novel.

jyl 09-18-2003 07:28 PM

I thought b was named after c?

nostatic 09-18-2003 08:42 PM

not obscure at all...

First 5 SD albums are some of the greatest music ever made.

Some good solo albums from Donald Fagen too!

singpilot 09-19-2003 10:06 AM

Donald Fagan is a frequent guest in the back of my airplane.

Both Isabo and John L. are correct.

do tell...you fly him during tours? I'll be driving down to San Diego next Friday to catch that show.

He and Becker are on my short list of people I'd like to meet...

singpilot 09-19-2003 03:17 PM

I am due to bring him in from NYC next Wednesday. He and his wife are always a pleasure to fly. We don't normally fly him for the tours, but as a favor from one of my clients, a music exec.
