Do any of you really believe that elections are not rigged and our politicians are really gonna let the voters decide the outcome? Think about the shear cost and complexity of a campaign and the size of the brass ring in winning. American presidential elections are as phoney as a three dollar bill. It's not you and I that decide by casting our vote, it's the men behind the scene that have untold power, wealth and influence like you and I can't even begin to comprehend. With all that said, American democracy is still the best thing going, but to believe it's a pure vote/ballot system is not realistic anymore.

I find it amusing that punchcard balloting is Bad, Bad, Bad. Except when the politician saying it's bad was elected by it...Electronic voting? The old time pols in Chicago would have loved it. As they must love Oregon's "vote by mail" system...where every and anybody who passes a driver's license test is also given a mail in voter registration card. Punch card or mark it, no diff.
OF COURSE elections are rigged here. Think of the money involved. Every side is doing all the rigging it can...after all, it's the american way...Haven't figured it out yet? It's not how the votes are cast, it's how, and by whom, they are counted.

Doesn't need to be. The powers that be...an Interest Group...will give campaign donations to canidates of both parties. Maybe it isn't an even distribution....So that no matter which canidate wins the election the Interest group wins no matter what. That is the reason they have been talking about campaign reform.
Our election process has always been flawed. There have always been elections that have been skewed one way or another. The Founding Fathers didn't trust the people....orginally only men who owned property could vote.... The Electoral College is another example of the FF's mistrust....although it does serve a function of not allowing the states with smaller populations from being drowned out by states with large populations. Tammy Hall....Chicago....Whats new??? Before the 2000 election who woulda even complained about rigged elections...Nobody... Now OH my Gawd we need a Judge to tell us whats fair! Thats because AFTER an election didn't go a certain parties way (they lost by the long accepted standard rules) they wanted to challege the rules after the fact with an exception. Why didn't they complain before, and it was the Counties they controled that they were complaining about??? However ironically if both parties had gotten just what they wanted they would have lost, they were both arguing the wrong exception to the rules that would have favored their side. One party just wanted to count votes in the counties they controled and the other said we won but if you must lets recount the the votes in the whole state. One side only wanted to count votes in their counties because the other side said we want to count them all. They(DEMS Attorneys) did that because they thought the other side was up to something? Stupid Huh? However after the dust settled an independent party counted all the votes in the state..their findings were that if you only counted votes in the specific counties he wanted to, Gore loses, however if you recount votes in the whole state Gore wins. Gore argued the wrong exception. To restore stability to the political process the Supreme Court said count one count all and not just the ones you want....equal protection..Time has run out game over...By By Gore ello Bush.... Is it clean is it fair??? the system warts and all seems to have worked pretty well for 200 years.....lets move on....the losing side will get it's chanch next time...

Re: Electronic Voting - is it rigged?
Well yeah it's it rigged. . . .supposedly rigged so it can't be rigged.
Though; how *that* is done certainly is not apparent to 99+% of the voters. We all now know, not to let our chads hang, and that a paper punch card record can be re-examined. Also, We all do know how fast electronic data can be replicated.
