Are These Their F1 Tires?

Michelin to Recall About 6,500 Tires In U.S. and Canada
GREENVILLE, S.C. (The Wall Street Journal)--The North American unit of French tire maker Michelin SCA plans to recall about 6,500 tires in the U.S. and Canada after they failed to meet quality standards.
Michelin North America on Thursday said the Pilot Sport 255/35ZR20 97Y Extra Load tires may experience a rapid loss of air pressure as a result of a blister on the sidewall. The blister may produce a noticeable tire vibration, and the accompanying air-pressure loss could lead to a lack of control and a vehicle crash, Michelin said.

The tire maker said there have been no accidents or injuries reported in North America as a result of this condition.

Earlier last week, Michelin said it was recalling 10,000 of these tires world-wide because of a deflation risk. A company spokesman told Dow Jones Newswires the figure was "insignificant" relative to overall tire sales but declined to say how much the recall would cost.

Michelin said the majority of the 6,500 recalled tires were distributed in the U.S., with fewer than 400 distributed in Canada. Related actions are under way in other countries.

The recalled tires were fitted as original equipment on some trim levels of Jaguar XJ8 vehicles and also were available in the replacement market. The affected tires' markings begin with FHPNEFMX and end with 00, 01, 02, 03 or 05, Michelin said.

you know, the first thing that I thought when I read this?

Why in the hell is a Jaguar coming with 20" wheels?? I doubt they have 16" rotors. I guess they are pandering to the average idiot.

Probably the same reason that Porsche has funky styling on the 997TT......trends and what the average Porsche pr*ck would buy, I guess.

Actually I think F1 uses 13" wheels and CART uses 15" wheels.
